Anyone else get weird/rude responses to their honeymoon plans?

Whenever anyone finds out I'm engaged they inevitably ask about our honeymoon plans. Frankly I feel lucky that we even can go on a honeymoon but it's going to require a lot of scrimping after especially since I do not get PTO. We're going to Asheville, NC and I'm really excited! Whenever anyone finds out I'm engaged they inevitably ask about our honeymoon plans. Frankly I feel lucky that we even can go on a honeymoon but it's going to require a lot of scrimping after especially since I do not get PTO. We're going to Asheville, NC and I'm really excited! So many people have told me I'd love it there. But people seem to expect me to leave the country, or at least go to Hawaii or something. I'm in FL and have had plenty of beach days already. I've had two people flat out ask me why I'd want to go somewhere so boring on a honeymoon or that I might as well have waited so we could save for something "better". I'm sure I'm not the only one who has dealt with this so feel free to vent here. It's very 1st world problem I MO but people are just so rude and then their stupid comments get in my head.

    First off, Asheville is amazing!!! You are going to love it!!!!!! So beautiful and romantic. Ahh swoon....

    Anyway, ppl are insensitive. And they probably just wanted to live vicariously through you and want to tell you where they want to go lol. I think you made an excellent choice and even if you weren't going anywhere and doing a staycation with your new husband alone-it would still be the best time ever because you are newly married and with your best friend!!!

    I get some weird reactions when I tell people that my FH is planning the entire thing as a surprise for me and I have no idea where we are going or what we are doing.

    Most people think its pretty neat though, but I have gotten some interesting comments...

    People will always have something to say, regardless where you go- kill em with kindness. We did a 2 week international trip and I had comments... It's YOUR honeymoon not theirs.

    I feel like this is life... People will always have their opinion on your choices Smiley smile have a great honeymoon!!

    It's your honeymoon. You can go or do whatever you and your FH choose to do. My FH and I are doing a road trip honeymoon.

    We're going to Egypt. My mother is very much trying to talk me out of it but we decided on an Egyptian honeymoon before we even decided we wanted to marry each other. I've had plenty of comments and questions about that choice.

    @Katherine thanks so much for the recommendations! I'm usually super on top of vacation planning but I've barely done anything with the wedding coming up. FH really wants to skip the Biltmore but I won't let him Smiley laugh

    @Laura we both LOVE craft beer and also we both love quirky ha ha so stoked.

    Ashville is beautiful. Like year round gorgeous and it has such an awesome array of things to do and places to eat. I think thats an awesome place to honeymoon and the negative nancies are all lame and should be ignored

    Arizona is stunning. My FH was there for a month and he wants us to move out there, lol. You'll have a wonderful time!

    Who cares what they think? Just tell them you've always wanted to go there. There's plenty of nice places in the US that are nice.
