Anyone else have 50 lbs they are trying to lose?

Susan, on October 12, 2016 at 2:40 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 41

I am about 30 lbs overweight, but I have a total of 50-60 lbs to lose before the big day. My day is 2 years away so I am starting slow. I want to make a lifestyle change for this new exciting chapter in my life-- one that will stick.

Anyone else have a large amount to lose?

Looking for encouragement and some support during this journey.

When are your big days?

Yes, I lost just under 60 lbs in 9 1/2 months! I started October 2015 (my wedding is this November 4th, so I've been maintaining for a few months now). It's totally achievable with your timeframe! I used the LoseIt app (free!) to track my calories/exercise/weight loss. The app made it so easy - I just entered my weight daily and it told me how many calories I could eat that day to still achieve my weekly goal (I set mine at 2 lbs/week, but you can adjust to 1 or 1 1/2, whatever works best for you). My brother and his wife also lost about 50 lbs each using the same app. I hit a plateau around 35 lbs and had to switch to much cleaner eating and then it was smooth sailing after that. Best of luck to you!

I think you should be able to reach your goal in the time frame you laid out. I'd like to lose 20-25 in the next 5 months.. Hopefully it'll happen. If not I'll need so super hero strength spanx to snatch this waist IN!

I'm finally hitting a good stride on the weight loss front, thanks to Weight Watchers. It's easier than what my nutritionist had me doing, and I don't feel miserable. I'm hoping to lose at least 30 by June, but I wouldn't be mad at a little more.

I have lost 18 lbs in 2 months with counting my calories and eating right. My goal is to be 150 for my big day which is in June of 2018 and I'm still trying. Not easy but commitment is the key.. good luck !

    @BeachBride kudos! Definitely difficult!

I lost about 15lbs recently it was just changing what I ate (less carbs, candy, and chips), more kale shakes, and upping my workout game.

I lost 20 pounds in 2 months eating super clean and exercising my brains out, but I've really plateaued since then. I want to lose at least 15 more before January when I go dress shopping! You can do it!

I lost 100 lbs 4 years ago and have kept all by 20 lbs off. I gained that being happy and in love with FH. (On Weight Watchers).

I am looking to lose 40-50 prior to the wedding myself.

I do, honestly. I'd be happy losing about 80lbs. A so-called healthy BMI would put me at losing about 110. That said, I would also look very sickly at that weight, and I have no desire to lose quite that much weight.

If I reach my pre-pregnancy weight from DS, I'll be happy. I got SO close a few years ago, and then stopped exercising and eating well, and backslid. :/

I need to lose like 50lbs in 7 months. I'm in the gym and a friend of mine got me on a cleanse from a product called advocare. I love it!!! I'm really seeing results.

@Leah: Not only are those really unhealthy, they only rid you of water weight. In short, they're a scam.

I'm pretty sure advocare is an MLM, too, which is another negative point.

I have around 100 lbs to lose but that is for health reasons and not specifically for the wedding. I am hoping to lose between 20 - 40 before May when I have to order my dress those.

I sell and use advocare. It's designed to help you make healthy lifestyle changes that stick. It's basically just vitamins and a healthier alternative to sugary energy drinks.

Susan- you can't motivate him to do something he doesn't want to do- he's gotta come to that conclusion on his own.

Do your own work- let it speak for itself.

@susan my FH should lose at least 50 to be healthy. But I have never told him he needs to work out or diet. I encourage him to make healthier lifestyle choices, such as telling him he can't sneak his broccoli into the garbage and he should eat his 4 pieces. But I've never told him he needs to work out. He knows he does, he's not stupid. He looks into the mirror. He's lost 15 pounds in a few months by making his own changes, such as cutting out soda and chips and joining a softball team. Your FH will figure it out. You can't make him want to do it.
