Anyone else have 50 lbs they are trying to lose?

Susan, on October 12, 2016 at 2:40 PM

I am about 30 lbs overweight, but I have a total of 50-60 lbs to lose before the big day. My day is 2 years away so I am starting slow. I want to make a lifestyle change for this new exciting chapter in my life-- one that will stick. Anyone else have a large amount to lose? Looking for encouragement...

Looking for encouragement and some support during this journey.

When are your big days?

Just looked it up, and Advocare is, in fact, an MLM company. I hate MLMs, they take money away from legitimate small businesses and swindle their own sales people into financial ruin. It happens all the time, and their products are almost always worthless. (Ex: promising weighloss and only causing you to lose water weight, for instance.)

I have to loose 40 to fit into my dress, but I really want to loose more. I have been using the my fitness pal app, the pacer app, and a bmi app. Also going to try some natural shakes and cooking more at home. My big thing is I hate working out, so I need more motivation!

Thanks for all the advice @OgAlecia You're right, I will have to try to do it together. We just have opposite schedules..

I know he has to want it himself, but he has a chronic disease and so diet and exercise are so important to his health.

@Jessie We can do this!!!!! Good motivation for me: looking up wedding stuff while doing cardio and Anna Victoria! She is awesome..As long as the cardio adds up to 30 mins a day and you work out two exercises for two major muscles it will melt off.

@Future Mrs. Velez I'm sure you can do that with just a little dieting--clean eating only. Try the ideal protein diet...it works.

I want to lose much more than that. But I'll be happy with 50 before our day in just under a year and a half.

Same boat, I'd like to be back to around 150 on the day of (July 9, 2017). I'm roughly 180 right now. I gained quite a bit this year from anxiety and dealing with some PTSD. Counseling has helped, and I'm finally starting to lose weight. Keep going! You have plenty of time to see what works for your body! Just keep your motivation up, and allow yourself some room to make mistakes.

I have a good 50lbs to lose. I'm a professional dieter, tried them all. Lol. The dress I found can't be fitted to a large body so I'm using that as some motivation. And I'd like a sexy honeymoon, of course!

Lift weights and cardio. Getting into the habit helps a ton, I just roll out of bed into my workout clothes and off I go every morning. What really helped was getting into a spin class competition over the summer. I'm not a terribly competitive person, but I set a goal to finish in the top 10 and I did!

I have lost 2.5 dress sizes and ~20 lbs in six months.

It's definitely doable. I lost 145 lbs in about 15 months and have kept it off 2 years now. It was all through weight training, cardio and changing my eating. Basically a complete lifestyle change, not a "diet". ETA: happy to help with tips.and motivation. Just reach out

When I was engaged, I thought it was expected to lose all the weight. I started, but then after week 3 or 4, the stress I put myself in was just too much. So I stopped. I just wasn't ready. And my wedding day was still great and looked beautiful. Last January, when all the major stressors of my life started to fade, I realized it was time. I made some major changes, forgive myself when I'm not "perfect," work out (I'm training for a half-marathon now), and just looked at eating differently - and I've lost 60 pounds. I'm super happy with 60, and I want to lose another 80. Slow and steady works for me.
