Idk I've seen so many posts about these proposal stories, and everyone is always asking me, oh how did he propose? I always feel like they're disappointed after I tell my story. My FH just proposed to me after dinner at our apartment LOL. I don't even have a picture. Anyone else on the same boat? It was very casual and very us. I think FH wanted to do something more elaborate but my custom ring wasn't done in time, from what he told me.

My fiance took me out to see the northern lights...until a big cloud and rainstorm rolled in. So we drove out like an hour out of town, stared at the stars we could see, and then he said we should go. I was miffed because I thought if not now, WHEN?! He kept blasting music to keep me awake the ride back, and as the rain fell and I looked for the backdoor key he spun around and proposed. I thought it was funny and cute, but some of my friends hardly reacted. I don't know if it's because they just got married themselves and weren't...I dunno, ready for someone else to be getting married? I felt kinda let down. I had to let those few weird reactions go, hopefully you had he same conclusion Smiley xd It's all about you as a couple, I think yours is cute.

These stories are so funny and sweet!! Hubby started to have a serious conversation while sitting on a couch. Thought he was going to break up with me (he was SO serious!) turns out he was going to propose. He is pretty low key so looking back I am not surprised. I asked him to ask my sons for their blessings, and he did.

    I love Rusty the dog!

YEP! I feel the same way... I see all these elaborate proposal stories and photos - like it was a hollywood production!

My proposal was about as casual as you can get! Let me set the scene... lol ...

We had gone to FH's holiday work party the night before, so we had leftovers in the fridge for dinner. I also got to work from home this particular day, so was in sweats, with a ponytail, and the only make up I had on was what hadn't washed off from the day before...we had to do dinner (our fancy leftovers) fast because the dog had a vet appointment that evening too... romantic so far right?

So I am warming up leftovers, turn to the counter on the other side of my kitchen to get a sip of lemonade, and there's a ring sitting on the counter next to my glass. You would have thought I saw a rat on my counter! I literally jumped backwards - dropped the dishtowel I had in my hand, and yelled "What the F$#K is that"? He popped out from where he was behind the pantry and said well, what do you think it is? Then immediately went into a rant about "what are you doing? look at me! This isn't how you do this!!! I'm a mess! This isn't normal!!!" And he came up to me with the ring and referenced this wooden sign we have above our sink in the kitchen that says "all because two people got drunk" (because well...) and said "we've never done anything normal - why should we start now? Will you marry me?"

To which I asked him if he could get down on a knee and ask like a respectable man (I know I am a b*$Ch) but I was in shock and I think subconsciously stalling... and poor guy - was bright red, and visibly shaking he was so nervous... but he did - he got down on a knee and said some amazingly romantic stuff I wish I could remember better if I am honest ... but I said yes, then we quickly ate and he took the dog to the vet so I could shower and get presentable... then we went out for a couple drinks to celebrate at our local hole in the wall..

Mine was as chill as it gets! Smiley smile I'd flown down to celebrate Halloween with my sweetheart and one of my best friends of 15 years. He'd mentioned a few times that having me in the house with him felt like home and like I belonged there, which was pretty sweet. But we were snuggling in bed after a good romp, and he kisses my forehead and says "So, you're totally gonna marry me, right?" No ring, no bended knee, no awkward proposal speech, no photos.... It was pretty awesome. Smiley xd

    Ours was kind of casual?

We were in Central America on a missions trip, which happened to be where we had met two years before. It was the last day, and the entire group was touring a river canyon. We all had swimsuits under our clothes, life jackets on top and tennis shoes to protect our feet. (Super stylish.) FH was lagging behind the rest of the group and acted like he wanted to tell me something (I was the trip leader, it wasn’t unusual.) Suddenly he gets on one knee, and proposes! Completely unexpected and unlike him! (FH is very plan-ahead, I’m way more spontaneous.) He didn’t have a ring but he said he couldn’t pass up a gorgeous canyon when he already knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. (It was perfect for us and very romantic!)

My brother took his then girlfriend out to lunch and said, "Here the ring came in." and handed her the box. They have been happy for thirty years.

My fiancé and I talked about it for months and one day we left his moms he handed me the ring he had gotten to her and something like “well if we’re going to get married, here I wanted to give you this so you can pick out your own setting for it.” Nothing romantic or fancy about it but I still cried in the front seat of our truck. It’s not about the proposal it’s about the marriage so you don’t have to feel like you’re less in love because you didn’t have a crazy proposal. My fiancé and I are crazy, stupid in love with each other even after 3 years together we never fight or argue. That’s more important to me than Instagram likes. Cheers!
