Dedicated April 2021

Anyone else have to postpone until 2021?

Stephanie, on March 16, 2020 at 7:56 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

In my post from a day or two ago I was still intending on having my wedding on April 4th but at the cancellation rate we were getting to there would've been under 30 people and my FMIL was deemed too high risk to travel. So our official new date is April 24, 2021! Our venue was pretty much booked the rest of the year except December and we didn't want to have a December wedding (too many birthdays and guests might already have plans). Still kinda bummed about the situation but at least everything is pretty much done already. And my fiancé and I still intend on getting married between now and May 5th in a civil ceremony with maybe my mom and sister attending. If not it'll just be us.

Any other brides effected by COVID-19 reschedule their celebrations until next year?

I am still waiting to hear back! Emailed them Saturday, called today and no one has given me alternate dates. I don't want to call every hour but my anxiety is beyond. I am sure they are very busy having to deal with so much craziness so I get it.

My biggest worry is that it won't be until 2021 due to availability but I guess I just have to deal. I don't want to give up my dream wedding I worked so hard on.

Oh wow that's super frustrating! Do you have a wedding planner? I have been very fortunate that mine has taken care of negotiating with my vendors about another date. Definitely have a couple back picks in place just incase. This whole situation is just insane and its so unfortunate anyone has to go through this..I hope you have an answer soon!

Omgosh it's so nice to know someone else is in the same boat as us! We decided to to postpone our May 16th wedding and our venue only has December this year open so it looks like 2021 it is for us as well.

I have to postpone our May 23 wedding until 2021, too. We're debating between January versus May 2021. Luckily our venue was indoors, but now I'm worried about getting possibly snowed out, and little things that I had always wanted --- photographs outside, peonies and ranunculus, wearing my backless dress without having to cover it up with a fur stole. All small fry things I know, but I still care about it, dammit!

For those who are moving almost a full year out -- how are you making the mental shift? It's just so hard for me to be like, we were going to get married in 2 months to now telling myself, okay, 14 months . . .

I guess the main thing for me is probably knowing that I will still be getting married in the upcoming weeks. That helps. But I totally get what you mean. And on Facebook I see all these people still have their weddings and then it's just like damn I need to wait another whole year now.

Totally. It's hard not to feel bitter even when I see just regular posts by my recently married friends -- you got the wedding you had planned, why can't I!!! Ugh.
