Anyone else just so glad it's over?

Aver, on September 14, 2015 at 7:32 PM Posted in Married Life 1 24

This is entirely about weddings, not about happiness about being married (which is super great and I keep saying to my partner, but not the point).

It's been a bit over a week now, so pretty much everything is wrapped up. Everyone was paid quite a while ago, I got flowers drying, thank you cards are mailed, and of course, the wedding is done.

I am so happy. I've been waiting for several months for this to be over.

A thousand times yes. When I read threads about center pieces and picking out venues, I am so relieved we are past it all.

One of our close friends gets married in 2 weeks. Seeing her in the prime of stress makes me think she will be happy when it's over lol. She's so stressed out, that even FH noticed and feels really sorry for her. FH is usually oblivious to the world, so for him to notice, means a lot!

I'm still in the honeymoon phase of planning where everything is rainbows and butterflies. But I'm sure it will set in eventually.

    EDIT: typo

Everyone, I feel so much less crazy. Also, the longer it's over, the less stressed I've been about 'ahh I didn't talk to my (close) cousin enough and she's moving' or 'was there enough food early enough' because it is over and way too late for people to have been bothered.

Ninja, I only had to send like 15, so don't feel bad. The only real work in them was that we wrote them all personally, but I'm pretty sure most people probably do that on about that many anyway.

ETA- my planning wasn't even like, that crazy. We did it in the space of about 2.5 months (so, time crunch, but not a long term stress) and with only 16 guests and ourselves, and a strong idea of what we wanted and didn't. We had <5 vendors. But even considering that, so much better with it over.

I have 8 months and 11 days left until my wedding and I cannot wait for it to be over!!!! The stress and planning is getting to me. Idk why weddings bring the worst out of ppl. I am only looking fwd to my honeymoon and living with my hubby.

Not there yet, but I am so ready to be done with the planning. I'm on the home stretch and so almost done, but I am ready to let loose, get married, and party. My list is rapidly dwindling and for that I'm grateful because I want to enjoy as much of the wedding weekend as possible and not stress.

Margaret- I feel you, yours is coming up fast and it feels like I was just there. On being sick of planning, we got everything we could ready by the afternoon before, then said 'that's all we can do, let's watch a movie and have pizza.' It was so nice to take that break, because even the day of is all full of planning.

Oh yes. I had a week of, day before, morning before (eg, what do do before leaving the house, and what do get into the car), and day of list. Also a list of attendees so someone could make sure no one was locked out when the ceremony started.

I felt sooooooo relieved when it was all over. It's great to drive past Michael's or the dollar stores and not to have to park and buy more stuff, lol.

I cried my eyes out when the last one of my guests flew back home, because I miss all of them so much, but otherwise, I'm glad I'll never have to follow up RSVP's or pay so much money to so many people at the same time, haha.

I am really glad all the planning is over, it was all definitely starting to get to me... but I am pretty sad that the whole thing is over now too. We had so much fun at our wedding and it all went by so fast! Now that I am getting back to "normal life" I am definitely getting some post-wedding blues Smiley sad

    100 times YES YES YES

I'm just waiting on my pro-pic to come back so I can do these thank you cards and be 100% done with all wedding related stuff. I'm glad I planned the honeymoon a couple of days after the wedding. After the last 2 weeks of wedding planning. I needed a vacation.

I KEEP SAYING THE EXACT SAME THING! I understand that parts of planning are enjoyable, but overall I am so happy to get my life back! We bought a house over a year ago and the walls are still white with nothing on them and the rooms are barely set up. I can't wait to settle in to my home.

Rebecca, that's me too, but I thought my grandparents would really like a wedding, so we made this small thing.

I thought I would be so happy to be done with the wedding- but I'm a little sad. The day really went by so fast and it's been weeks and I'm still waiting on my photos, video and my Thank You cards (so I guess I'm not really done). I wish I could go back and relive the wedding again. The planning and paying for the wedding I'm happy to be done with- but the actual day I'd happily do again and again.
