Anyone else NOT doing uplighting?

It seems like uplighting has become a staple at weddings recently. I don't always love the way they look, but I've seen them done really nicely, too. Unfortunately for me FH absolutely HATES them and it was the one thing he had a really strong opinion on, so we're foregoing them all together....

I don't always love the way they look, but I've seen them done really nicely, too. Unfortunately for me FH absolutely HATES them and it was the one thing he had a really strong opinion on, so we're foregoing them all together. Instead we're going for a very candlelit look -- 10-14 candles on each table and the venue lights on, but dim.

Somehow I'm still afraid it's going to look bad and that we'll be "missing something" without the uplighting. Which is ridiculous. Stupid wedding industry is getting inside my head!

What about using only a couple such as the entrance of the venue (2) and the cake table (2 or 1).so it just gives it a little pop! Lol good luck. Regardless itll be awesome!

I didn't even know what uplight was until this thread. I don't think the venue does it so I'm not having it.

I don't care for it either way.

I won't be doing any lighting at all. Our wedding is in the backyard at 3pm in the afternoon so it would be a waste of money for me. We will be working with natural light only for the entire event!

I am not doing uplighting either, it was an extra on the DJ package but I didn't think it was the worth money. I rather have the soft romatic feel of the candles Smiley smile

I *think* we are skipping it, too. Tons of candles and dim lights and I hope it looks good. Our venue offers it but it's $600 and since we are getting married in the summer, the sun doesn't even set until 8pm, the room has tons of windows, and we have to be outta there by 10pm. So we weren't sure it was worth it--and we were just doing soft white lights anyway, no color. But I'm so nervous about it because they don't have a single pic of the place without up lighting! (However, their marketing pics have up lighting set in a way that you can't actually do, too, but don't even get me started on that...)

Noo I don't want to pay for it. If I was renting a tent with no decor maybe, but I'm on a budget lol

Kim- Thanks for the link. I had actually thought about it but it would likely end up looking like a child's-birthday-party-at-mcdonalds hot mess. LOL. Plus I didn't want the stress of having to set it up myself. I splurged a little more on other aspects of the decoration that will dress things up!

We were originally not going to do uplighting because it's kind of expensive. But my FH really loves it, and I managed to search around and find a really good deal on it, so I got it as a surprise for FH. If he didn't love it so much, I totally would've skipped it.
