FH and I are getting married at an indoor park in the ampitheatre. We are not having ushers because we didnt really think we needed them and honestly we couldn't think of anyone to fill that duty as FH has no siblings and most of his close friends live out of state and probably won't be attending. I also don't really have anyone on my side I could think of either. I've gotten some shocked reactions from people and comments that they can't believe we aren't having ushers. I am planning on just doing a cute sign letting guests know they may seat themselves.

Anyone else doing this??

No ushers for our 100-guest outdoor wedding. There will be 2 hanging baskets with programs and we don't care on which side people sit.

We didn't have ushers. If we had thought about it, we probably would have asked a few of our GMs to double as ushers - the pews at the front of our church were angled a little funny and looking at the video now I can see that people just didn't sit there, so the front of the church looks kind of empty. But.....whatev. Honestly it's the last thing we noticed on the day.

We are not having ushers either. I do not think they are necessary for our wedding. Everyone keeps making me feel like I am crazy for doing this too, but I know I am not. People can seat themselves. I am also thinking of making one of those signs to "pick a seat, not a side."

I have been debating this as well. FH has too many people he wanted to stand up for him, so it is a way to include them. We are having our guest sit anywhere they would like, but having them there for some of the older guest just in case. But I wish we could have gone without.

I'm not having real ushers either. My gramma's are getting ushered or escorted down the isle, by their grandsons, so my cousins. One is 26 and 2 are both 12, so its not gonna be the normal or typical kind, but I kinda dont care what others think, cause it's my wedding I want it done this way.

No ushers for us. Short ceremony! Not having sides either. People can sit where they want.

We are also not doing ushers, I hope people can use some common sense and figure out where they need to go!

I have a whole parcel of brothers, but didn't even think of ushers. If people are old enough to attend a wedding by themselves, their old enough to seat themselves. I really like the 'we're all family now' sign!

We are not having ushers, there is 14 in our WP, I have a cousin of mine that will be letting people know where to park and enter. I will have signs through the hallway that says sweet little things leading there way to the ceremony. I also will have a sign once they get outside that says Two families become one, so please pick a seat and not a side. I will have my 11 year old niece give out the programs and tears of joy as they walk out the door to the ceremony. I will have my FH's two son's walk FH's parents to there chairs and my two sons to walk my mother to her chair. The front two rows will have black seat covers with a red sash, that says reserved for family. The rest will have white over them with a black sash on them.

I hope our guests are not that stupid to not be able to sit down on a seat without direction.

We are not having ushers or chairs. It's a short ceremony and it's on the beach so chairs would sink into the sand anyways. All of our guests already have the heads up so they know if they are wearing heels to take them off til reception time. We will have a few chairs for grandparents though of course

FH and I are butting heads on this topic. I think its pointless to have ushers, people are capable of seating themselves, but he is insistent that we have them. We have recently decided instead of doing a receiving line that we are going to stop at each pew and thank guests as WE release them, so hopefully he will drop the usher argument Smiley smile
