Anyone ever been to the Pocono's?

Crystal, on March 9, 2011 at 10:27 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10

Has anyone ever gone to the Pocono's ? I am thinking about going there for our honeymoon. It's close to Maine and I HATE flying so its perfect for us. But I am so afraid of going there because some reviews make it seem like a swingers resort, this is where we want to go http://www.covepoconoresorts.com/ . Other reviews say its just like a cruise on land which would be great!! So I am super conflicted.

Any thoughts ?? Anyone ever been?

Im in the Philadelphia area and several (maybe 5 or 6) people I know have gone to that resort, but it was many years ago. They loved it and raved about it.... I would maybe take a ride up there (make it a nice romantic day trip) and check it out first.

Some places that were amazing back then may not be amazing now. I mean if the tub is 30 years old and could use new carpets... stuff like that. If you paying big bucks for something you need to make sure your getting what you paid for.

I just googled reviews on it... May be to long to post, but they are recent comments. Here is the link..

    Dear Crystal and Beau:

I have been to Pocono Palace, Brookdale and Paradise Stream.

Cove Haven is especially designed for young couples and honeymooners. Pocono Palace and the others have more activities, but are more family oriented. They are not swinger atmospheres at all, but do specialize in nightly entertaining.

My favorite is Cove Haven The food is excellent, the entertainment good, and if you just want to be alone, there's a lot to do. There are also cute surrounding towns for antique shopping. The rooms are luxurious but a bit gaudy for my taste, but you will enjoy the built in jacuzzi's and the heart shaped tubs. Don't do Garden of Eden Apple -- there are no windows and you feel closed in. If you can, I would recommend you visit there for a tour. This way you can see the rooms and feel which is best for you. Ask which rooms have been recently renovated. At times the rooms can be musty during damp seasons. I know you will enjoy it, so go for it!

I live 40mins away from there, and I never heard it to be a swingers club. More for honeymooners and vacations

I also grew up in the Pocono's - well actually Lake Wallenpaupack to be exact - the areas are very nice and I have friends that still live around there and from what they tell me the resorts are very nice - I have one friend that goes every year with her husband for a long getaway weekend. I would do as the others suggested and take a day trip to check it out in person.

What about the wineries in Seneca Lake, NY? Close to Maine, no flying!

We've been to Pocono's two years ago for weekend getaway and had wonderful time! I loved the area and there is a lot to do and good food. We went white water rafting Smiley smile I hope one day we will do it again.
