Anyone else folding 1001 cranes for your wedding? What are you planning to do with them? We are planning to hire someone to mount them for us.

Many people fold origami cranes for their wedding day. Folding 1000 is supposed to grant your greatest wish and ensure luck/prosperity/fidelity in your marriage.

I never knew this was a thing, but I definitely don’t have time to be doing that. I can’t imagine having that time lol

I tried to do this a long time ago (not for a wedding but because I heard it was good luck and I love origami) and I failed. I got to 110 I think and it took forever! I still have them but there was no way I was getting there haha. If you do it yourself, good luck and I hope you get there! Smiley smile

My mom did this (not for her wedding but still). I think it’ll look lovely, I’ve seen it on Pinterest and I’m thinking about doing it myself. Are you doing different colors, or just white? Post pictures when you’re done!

I was planning on it if we got married at Morkami Museum and Japanese Gardens but since we couldn't afford it and are just going with a travel theme at a country club I might not. I do really like the idea but is it still good luck if FH makes the vast majority of them, he's been doing origami since 4th grade, self-taught from books. I kind of stink at it, patience is not one of my best skills. Also where do you get 1000 peices of origami paper for a decent price?

I think it’s still good luck! Lots of people have their families help out as well because it is pretty time consuming. I looked up that venue and it’s gorgeous!! Do you live in Florida or is it a DW? We live in Seattle so there’s Asian stores that sell the paper but I think you can get it on amazon as well. Joanns and Michaels also sells in this area so maybe check there?

We plan to have ours mounted and framed and displayed on an easel at our reception. This is not the design we will be using but here’s a picture of 1001 cranes mounted and framed.

Thanks, I'll have to see if I can find something in our colors at joanns or Michaels or maybe just go with the white or multi-packs on amazon. I just talked to FH and he likes the idea still. We live in FL and are members and go there all the time, it's so beautiful and peaceful. I'm not sure how into origami you are, but we even got to see a lecture by Robert Lang there and get his autograph. I had been hearing FH talk about this guy since we started dating so it was really cool.

For those who are wondering about this, it's an ancient Japanese legend that anyone who fold 1000 origami cranes will be granted a wish by the gods. I know that they do this a lot when someone is sick as well.

Shades of purple and silver accents. I really like the gold, so I may incorporate more silver with the cranes since the metallic looks so nice.

I haven’t seen packs of paper with only purple but there’s definitely silver in the Asian stores near me. Let me know if you want me to mail some silver papers to you!!
