Anyone from the Lehigh Valley? Dress shopping

Michelle, on July 17, 2019 at 1:58 PM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 9

Anyone have any places that they shopped for bridal dresses that they loved? One that had a variety of sizes to try on?

Hey Michelle! Welcome to the WeddingWire community!

How exciting to be starting to look for your wedding dress! Have you got some ideas on what style of dress you would love? It’s great to have some idea what you like before heading to a bridal salon, but also need to keep an open mind as you might find something that is completely different that you love!

Have you checked out the WeddingWire vendor search for bridal salons in your area? You can have a look at their profiles and read their customer reviews to see what other brides thought! Here are the Philadelphia Wedding Dress stores that we have listed.

We are getting married in the Poconos.
I was lucky and fell in love and bought the 2nd dress I tried (at David's Bridal, in Florida but that's a long story lol)
I'd love to keep in touch on other things in that area as this is sort of a destination wedding for us and that area is new to us (we live at the Jersey Shore)

Elizabeth- I am actually having a destination wedding too....but in Mexico! I work in the Poconos and live in the Lehigh Valley. I probably won't be using many things from the area, but since I have lived her for a long time, I might know some things. Good luck!

I haven't started looking yet. I'm in NC, but my mom and sister are in Catasauqua and Pburg, so I'll likely be shopping there to make it easier on them. There's a store in Nazareth called Bridals by Sandra that is a Premium Retailer for Maggie Sottero. I love that brand because they have a ton of plus size options (I'm a size 16 misses, so I'm told that's plus size in bridal) and they are known for quality construction. I'll definitely start there, but I'd live to hear if anyone else has opinions or Intel. You can only glean so much from the vendor listings on here.

Cheryl- I will let you know how I make out. I took the day off on Aug 7 and am going to a few places. Bridals by Sandra is one of them, as well as I found VK Bridal and Sue Ames. I am also a 14 or 16, and that is my main concern of being able to try on something my size. I have heard a few horror stories! My friend who got married a few years ago said that many places only had smaller sizes and she had to drape the dress over her. She was a size 12 at the time. I was hoping to hear more real life experiences, but I guess I will have to take a chance and just go!

Cheryl- I went to a few bridal stores on Wednesday, and ended up at Bridals by Sandra and got my dress! They were great there and I was able to try on a bunch of dresses in my size and price range. The attendant was really helpful and she picked out so many dresses. I totally recommend them if you are shopping in the area! I also went to VK Bridal in Walnutport and they were very nice, but limited on the amount of dresses. I also went to David's and liked one dress there, but totally liked Sandra's better. good luck!

Definitely check out Sue Ames Bridal Outlet in Allentown. They have all sizes, and they are designer dresses marked down. Most of them were about $800 when I was there two years ago with my MOH, but she got her wedding dress there for only $99!!! Now that it's my turn, I'm definitely going to check them just in case, even though I am also planning on trying on some dresses at home from Azazie.com

Thanks for the reply Stephanie, but unfortunately I did go to Sue Ames and they were closed that day (even though it said they were open until 5pm). I had taken off the day to go, so I was a little annoyed. I did get my dress though at Bridals by Sandra, so all is good!
