Anyone giving out props for the dance floor?

Morgan, on February 26, 2014 at 8:19 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

Someone I talk to who recently got married in October posted pictures of her wedding on facebook and everyone on the dance floor were wearing those Hawaiian things around their necks. Then I saw a wedding video from someone on here that had blow up instruments and microphones. My FH thought it looked so fun in the video he nows whats to do something like that. I really like glow sticks and wanted to get the glasses glow stick one and stuff for people. Everytime I think of glow sticks on the dancefloor I remember that scene from Hot Chicks lol So is anyone giving out any type of props? I'm still very undecided on if I want to do it or not.

I Will Not Be Doing Any Of Those Things. But Talk To Your DJ If You Want Stuff Like That. They Can Usually Add It To Your Package

Our DJ offered to add this to our package for $1.50pp but it wasn't an expense I thought was necessary, even though it could be fun.

@JK it definitely adds to the dancing and makes people get up. I never thought of beach balls before! Awesome idea!

@nicole - My DJ Does Do Stuff Like That. But We Couldn't Afford The Props. But He Is Letting My FH Wear A Huge Hat With Huge Glasses And Dance To The Harlem Shake.

Whoa what's up with capitalizing the first letter of every word? Am I missing something?

Also, I've never heard of this prop idea. VERY interesting....hmmmm!!!! (Probably not, due to budget, though)

The wholesale price for the stuff I was thinking was so much cheaper then what my DJ was going to give us. Plus I didn't want to pay PP when I know my 80 yr old grandma wont be needing a prop. So that's why I figured going to Party Fair was way cheaper.

@Amanda That's how she typed to me. So I typed back that way lol. I definitely do not type like that regularly. It take way too long and just looks annoying.

I like it when I see it on four weddings. I'm not adding the extra expense though not to mention my venue doesn't allow glow sticks.

@boxingbride They props do make the pictures more memorable. It does show how fun the reception was. That's why I am probably going to be doing them. But I definitely wont be doing the Mardi Gras Beads lol

I am most def just gonna buy these in bulk also not rent props pp. Even at the dollar store they are 3 for $1, so it wouldn't be a huge expense for our size.

But I never thought to think about whether or not they were allowed. Good question.

We want a very casual, dance party vibe, and in our group of friends if there is a BIG night out, someone always has some sort of prop to pass out so I def think this will add to the fun. The beach balls were at wedding I was at last summer. It really just added a fun "get on the dance floor" vibe to the reception. I love it!

I figured I would display them somehow like this:

I never imagined glow sticks not being allowed. Before I buy them I definitely need to ask but I just think my venue doesn't allow sparklers.

Fingers crossed they allow them! I'm going to buy the glasses ones at least for my FH and I haha Those will make for some funny pictures.

I wonder if they would be concerned abt the glow sticks breaking open and getting on the carpet. My planner also pointed out that I may have to pay an extra cleaning fee if I insist on rolling votive holders or vases in glitter, or I may just not even be allowed to have them. So many stipulations!

I just saw that too with the bracelets! So tempted to buy all the stuff right now. But won't until I find out about their policy. Ugh

We also only have about 100 people too. This stuff is definitely not a budget breaker at all.

    Props sound fun!

And fyi, when you respond to forum posts on the WW app, the writing shows up like that. It's super annoying!
