Anyone have experience with eyelash extensions?

GPR, on July 21, 2016 at 8:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I wanted to get eyelash extensions for my wedding. My cousin just got them and i like them, however, I do not know if they harm your natural lashes. I would be very sad if my natural lashes got messed up because of extensions (i have long lashes, especially with mascara). However, extensions give me the beautiful drama I want, and I think they look better than false lashes.

Does anyone have experience with extensions? Do they ruin your natural lashes? How long do they really last? My wedding is 36 days away but I was thinking of getting them now and seeing if I like them and then possibly getting a refill.

Thank you for your help!

My MUA for my engagement pics said she usually does extensions but isn't with me because my eyelashes are so long. Talk to your MUA artist about and see what he/she suggests.

I have had them three times and they have messed with my lashes every time. I just use some RapidLash after and they're back to normal in 2-4 weeks. (They look so dang good, though!)

I had got them done one time. They looked great!! But it was hard to wash my face when I had make up on. PLUS when I got them taken off my eye lashes were basically gone. I was so traumatized I actually cried for a couple days. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone unless they have super short and thin lashes already

Just got mine on Monday! Weddings 5 weeks away but I wanted them for shower, bachelorette, makeup trial and to see how long I want to go. I got them super long and curly and will adjust after I decide.

Once you get them it's best not to shower for 48 hours due to hot water and steam.

I guess I could have taken a cold shower lol. I took a day off work.

Also needed to buy special oil free makeup remover.

I haven't put eye makeup on since I got them on.

BUT the reason I got them is so that when I cry on the big day I don't have to worry about my makeup.

I say go for it, I was told waiting 2-3 weeks in between depending on how I take care of them

I have never had them, I just apply false lashes if I want to amp it up, and I am not getting them. I had a coworker friend who'd get them sometimes and although of course I never said anything to her because it would be mean, I'll tell you: they looked so fake and way too full. Make sure you see what you're getting in advance. I don't know if hers were cheap or if she just picked a bad style, but they were not cute and were really obvious. The ones on Sara look nice. My friend's were just like too caterpillar-like. Just no. So test them out first.

I've had lash extensions done before and they ruined my real eyelashes. Just be really choosy about where you go!

I loved the Sephora Luxe False Lash in Plush were the best $17 I spent for my wedding! :-D. I tried them out for my shower, loved how they lasted and photographed, and bought a new pair for my wedding. Lasted all day, came off pretty easily, didn't rip out all my lashes :-D

I'm not into this sort of thing at all but my mother has tried them. Lol She put them on three separate times and every time they have fallen off way before they were supposed to. Each time, at three different places, they told her it was because of the type of natural lashes she had. I have also heard they do mess with your natural lashes a bit but I think that is only if you pull them off yourself. My mom ended up going to Sally's and buying the ones that you can put on at home and she is happy with those. Ha

I got them once and plan to get them for the wedding. My lashes were completely fine after, but I think it depends on who applies them, what they use and how careful they are. The only problem was one of my eyes got really bloodshot and I thought something happened to it. Luckily it was just irritated, but I plan to get my extensions longer before the wedding day than I'd initially planned in case my eye gets bloodshot again. But I loved the way they looked and again had no problem with my lashes underneath. I think it's also important not to pick them as they start to fall off. You probably get some of your real lashes in the process. They are supposed to last 2-3 weeks, but I had some left for about a month, I'd say.

I've worn false lashes several times for special events (my sister's wedding, my trial/e-pics, a friend's wedding where I was a BM) I sort of steamed them off in the shower, and didn't notice any lash loss afterward at all.

For actual lash extensions....I've heard some real horror stories. I'm sticking with false lashes for my wedding!

I would suggest using strip or individual lashes, or even a combo of both to achieve a more unique style that would best fit. Although extensions can look amazing, they do mess with your regular lashes and worst case scenario you can have an allergic reaction to the glue o_o I had a coworker have a really bad reaction and she had to go to the hospital...

I don't get them, but my mother does. She LOVES them, and her girl does them to look very natural and she looks great. her only complaint is having to sit there for so long while theyre applied. shes never had issues with them messing up her real lashes, she just lets them fall off naturally and trims the stragglers.

I've gotten them several times. My problem was sleeping. I'm a rough sleeper and would rub my face in the pillow or on my arms (don't ask). So they would come out before I was due for a replenish. I had no issues with my natural lashes. I would be careful on who is certified to do it tho.

I got them done 2 weeks ago for another wedding. I do like them but sitting still through the application was torture!

It is nice not to have to wear makeup.

I don't know how they will affect my real lashes, and I don't know if I'd do this again or just go with regular falsies.

I work at a studio that does lash extensions, waxing and facials. I have had them done twice so far. I LOVE THEM. I also get them at a good discount being an employee though. Cost wise, strip lashes are better. I have short, sparse lashes so even with a full set of extensions, mine don't look dramatically full. I may choose to go with strips for the day of for that reason. Talk to your MUA, and if you do decide on extensions, go to a professional. After seeing so many girls come in with wrecked lashes, please do some research first!

I have had lash extensions several times at different locations for special occasions and never had any issues. I have short curly lashes naturally and once the extensions fell off on their own they remained the same. Make sure who ever does your extensions is reputable. I used groupon for better prices, but always check out reviews on yelp before purchasing.
