Because I Said So
Super September 2010

Anyone know where I can get a ton of glass vases or hurricane lamps cheap?

Because I Said So, on March 29, 2010 at 1:49 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 23

I'll probably need 20-30 short medium and tall glass vases for my candles that I'm using for my centerpieces. I'm putting 3 on each table and I may have 10 tables so I don't want to go to Michael's or AC Moore and spend $7-10 each, that would be hundreds of dollars just for vases before I even buy the candles and candle holders that go inside! I thought of renting them but my wedding is out of state so there's no way for me to see what I'm renting before the wedding, and I don't think that would save me any money.

Most rental places have websites where you can view the rental items online. Otherwise, not only will you be buying the items, but shipping them ($$&dollarSmiley winking.

And you can have these shipped to the nearest dollar store and pick them up there (definitely saves on shipping!)

Oh crap. I missed that she was getting married out of state lol. Well 20-30 is not too big of a haul if you're driving to your location. I suppose you could always sell them on craigslist afterwards.

Dollar tree online is the best bet for cheap.. but you can also try crate & barrel and pier one for nicer ones that you can use around the home later on

C&B adn Pier 1 are too rich for my blood! I'm a bargain shopper at heart. Dollar Tree is 1 of my favorite stores, there are several near where I live so I'll definitely order some vases from them. Thanks everyone!

Also try craigslist. I have found brides selling materials from their wedding. I got 18 large cylinder vases for $30 from a a lady here in Denver.

I would try ikea, hobby lobby (who I think sells stuff online now), I wonder if floral places online would be able to sell that kind of thing in bulk fairly cheap?

So you don't trust a rental company to give you accurate photos or sizes, but you would order them online? I don't understand the difference, other than you will spend a lot more to purchase them. Not to mention the hassle of transporting them to and from the venue, cleaning them, storing them, reselling them...Renting is a much better option.

@Celebrations..when did she say she didn't trust a rental company to give her accurate photos or sizes..

Tiiiidge bit uncalled for in the attitude dept.

@Sawtoothbride. I would look into dollar tree online. I found some GREAT ones for my wedding and my sister in law got hers from there a few years back and I'm able to reuse some of them for mine. While renting is an option as was so OBVIOUSLY stated prior to me...if you don't trust it. Don't do it. Do what you feel right doing.

This is a wholesale glass vase place in the DFW area (Carollton, I think)...they sell vases...all sizes by the piece and by the case.

Ok...I have been doing researching for the same exact thing! I bought cylinder vases at dollartree, I also bought taller ones at Walmart for $3.00 to match, in addition I got some interesting vases at Ikea. (They have votitive candle holders for like 50 cents. I have seen some hurricane vases at ACMoore..(you can use coupons there).

I plan to put water in cylinder vases and buy floating candles to make it look different. I am also thinking Craig's list when this is all done..:0) Or there is always the Goodwill or Salvation Army if you want to get rid of faster.

Try the Dollar Tree. I found my centerpiece containers there the other night. Everything is so much better when it's only $1 & they look really nice!
