Anyone moving right before their wedding?

Jillian, on November 6, 2013 at 9:51 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 25

We are moving in the Spring and I'm super stressed about having money for the wedding and the move. Moving is necessary, we live with my fiances parents and we muuuuuuuuusttttttt leave! We're moving about 15 minutes from our wedding location which is good though.

From Myrtle Beach to the mountains of PA, woooo!

We moved this past August. We still have stuff in boxes and some rooms are not completely organized yet, but we're getting there. I've painted most of the house (which I love), but there hasn't been much activity in the way of actual decorating.

We're hosting Thanksgiving 2 days before the wedding, and I was hoping to have things more done by now, but . . .

I wouldnt even consider it. All the stress of packing, unpacking, moving furniture, plus the financial stress of turning on the utilities and paying everyone and their brother a hefty deposit, there is no way. We moved into our house seven months ago and still havent finished unpacking

I had just bought/moved into my place in Feb..then I sold the manufactured home in September. So I had to pack all of my stuff and my 2 childrens things up and into my garage. FH and I bought a new bigger manufactured home and put on our property. I had to live out of a suitcase for about a week and a half while the new house was being set up. Then all my stuff was moved back into the new house. We are now in the process of moving all of his stuff out of his rental house.

This has been a stressful, couple of months to say the least!

@Jackie that is what I'm stressing about. Too much! I have 2 dogs and pet deposits are insane.

I put an ad on craigslist and was seriously like "We need a 2 bedroom apartment, no bullshit deposits and we want month to month right now. We are real people, just need someone to understand" I surprisingly got 3 legit responses and I think it's because I attached pictures of us and our dogs so people can see we're real and trashy people.

FH and I do not live together; I think we are a minority today. I will be moving in with him a week or a month before the wedding (April). Both of us will be off for two weeks around Xmas so we'll be doing a lot of consolidating/moving then too. There is no way around the stress. The only way is to push through it and be happy when you get to the other side.

FH briefly brought up the idea to me because our lease is up the month before our wedding next year.

I put my foot down though. No way in hell are we moving that close to the wedding.

So what we will probably do is just renew one more year and save for a house in that time.

FH and I bought a house in June and he is living there now. I will probably start moving my stuff in a few weeks before the wedding so that when we get back from our honeymoon I can just stay at the house. So I won't be completely moving before the wedding, but I will slowly start bringing my stuff over. I can't wait to move in after the wedding though!

I am in the same boat as lively brunette and while I am looking forward to moving in with him, not looking forward to the stress of actually moving. I say take it one day at a time and breathe because eventually it will at get done.

My FH has a house that we will all be moving into. We have 3 kids between us, and we are going to be moving in right after the wedding. We are fixing up the house and blending the family and planning the wedding. It's a lot to do all at the same time!

But I second @CRTNJ one day at a time Smiley laugh

DH and I had two separate houses. We bought one together a month before the wedding, selling mine at the same time. I moved in first, and he moved most of his stuff in the week after the wedding. His house is STILL for sale :-(

If I had to do it over again, I'd probably do it the same way. If you are organized about the wedding and packing, it's not too bad. We held the rehearsal dinner at our house, and everyone knew we had just moved in, so were not surprised to see boxes in some of the rooms.

Nope! We will be moving after some time depending on when/if we find a house or land.

Yes! We are looking at houses right now. Planning a destination wedding, reception after party, looking for a house, & working full time are about to drive me insane! I am in sales so when I drive I think about all the things I need to do & then when I get home I don't feel like doing anything. I know it will all be worth it in the end!

We would love to before but time and finances won't allow it. Our goal is to have a house within the one year mark of our wedding.

I couldn't imagine trying to move right now, way to much added stress.

Our lease ends 1 month after the wedding. Didn't want to handle both at the same time.

We moved in April and got married in October! It was not nearly as chaotic as I thought it would be. It actually gave me yet another exciting thing to focus on and really appreciate this time in our lives. Take it day by day and really enjoy it all!!

We were having a house built and had plan on moving into it around our wedding date, but there were delays and the house wasn't completed until late October. So it gave us about 3 months after the wedding to sort out everything, organize, pack, take possession of the house and move. I was so happy to have more room and to be able to use our wedding gifts.

We moved this past weekend which was just a couple weeks after the wedding. You are brave to do it right before the wedding. It's very stressful in so many different ways. Good luck!
