Anyone nervous/scared that guests won’t show up to your wedding?

Hello, I’m a little nervous and scared that people won’t attend my wedding and I’ll get alot of declines due to having my wedding during the pandemic (August 2021). Have anyone that have had a more traditional wedding during the pandemic, seen a pretty large amount of guests decline or not show up?...
Hello,
I’m a little nervous and scared that people won’t attend my wedding and I’ll get alot of declines due to having my wedding during the pandemic (August 2021). Have anyone that have had a more traditional wedding during the pandemic, seen a pretty large amount of guests decline or not show up? I’ll be having a traditional wedding with covid precautions in place, and the guest count is 100. I don’t want to spend all this money for a good amount of my guests not to show up the day of.

I agree because I have the same fear. Our venue is allowing we have about 165 guests we will be inviting, I am hoping for the final number to be around 100-125. But either way, I know that it will be a great day.

We live in NYC and our wedding will be in June in Greensboro, NC. Due to Covid, we sent out our STD's and gave people a month and a half to go on our website and RSVP. Not a lot of time but due to Covid, we wanted to have an idea as to what our preliminary numbers were looking like. Out of the 185 people (and with 5 days left before we are disabling the RSVP list), so far we are at 132. Since the majority of them will be coming from NY and need flights and hotels, etc, I doubt we will have any issues AND I know that number will go down. Matter of fact, we are fine with it going down. Covid made me really put things in perspective in regards our wedding and that is "those who are supposed to be there, will be there whether it's 50 to 150" , "less people means less money spent on catering" and "although you will have safety precautions in place (including masks and temp readers and covid negative results), do not take it personal if people decide not to come! It's a pandemic!!" Listen, we have to LIVE in this moment and whatever cards we are dealt, we have to play them. As long as the venue can still operate and we keep in mind, it's about US, I'm golden!!!

PS: We eloped in September. Wasn't planned (deposits paid, dress paid for, etc) but it certainly took the pressure off of having this image of the wedding I thought I wanted. Family and friends will get to witness our union 9 months to the day of our wedding in September so that's what's making me smile and get excited!

I am having the exact same thoughts. I live in Maryland. I am including COVID note with my invitation informing people of all the COVID precaution that will be in place. I don't know what will be allowed in July, but I am planning as if it will be a regular weeding. Inviting about 153 guest, if I get 80 guest I will be extremely happy. My siblings, nieces and nephews are almost that many. So, like some of the other respondent said you have to know your guest. I am nervous about it but keeping a positive outlook. The vaccine is coming along with people who have been infected possibly having antibodies. I am praying the country will be in much better shape by July.

I would try to lower the guest count and it be outside. especially for the older people because they will be forced to decline.

I'm in Lane County, is there a template for the "Covid Info Sheet". I would like to add something like that to my invitations. I have a few people coming from out of state.

I don't, I'm sorry! I think there was a Wedding Wire article that I read sometime ago with good info to add, but I don't remember the name of it....

The sheet just has generic info though, so it certainly isn't hard to start from scratch. I recommend the OR gov's website because you can find all the information for your county - gathering size, event risk level (low, moderate, high or extreme), etc. Pasted below is what we've drafted so far, and we're just bullet-pointing them Smiley smile I hope this helps!

-Please note, our wedding ceremony and reception are classified as moderate to high risk events, and we understand if you are uncomfortable attending

-The ceremony will be held outside and the reception will be held inside.

-If you would like to attend just the ceremony that is perfectly fine, please note on your RSVP card. We would rather share our vows with you than dinner!

-We will not be allowing dancing at this event

-Always wear a mask when away from your seat

-No eating away from your seat

-Please self monitor for symptoms - we will not have additional staff for temperature checks, social distancing enforcement, etc.
