Anyone not have a day of coordinator?

Emily, on August 3, 2019 at 10:23 PM Posted in Planning 1 14
Did anyone not have a coordinator the day of their wedding? I didn’t think about having one until I started a lot of posts about it. I honestly wouldn’t even be able to afford one. If you didn’t have one, what did you do to ensure everything ran smooth?

People have been doing without DOC's for years. Although they are very helpful you don't Have to have one. Does your venue have a manager that will be on site? Or do you have a friend or family member that's really organized and can run the show for you the day of?

No, they don’t have anyone that can help “manage” the wedding. I can probably have a friend that will help. I do have a dance floor coordinator, lol.

I am getting married September 7th and not having a day of coordinator. I did ask my fmil to act as a go to person. She will assist guests with seats, trouble shoot any issues, act as a point person for vendors, make sure stuff is going as planned, lighting candles, assisting with cake/cupcake set up. Basically a coordinator. My mom will also be there to assist

🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ No day of coordinator here!! My fiancé and I are doing it ourselves. We can afford one but I personally feel it is a waste of money. I hired all vendors with great reviews and reputable companies and have been following up regularly to make sure everyone is on the same page.

We didn't have one. We kept things simple--just a ceremony at a synagogue, and then taking everyone to a restaurant afterward. We decorated the synagogue ourselves, and didn't attempt to decorate the restaurant at all. (After all, they need to look nice every day.)

But think about what you want someone to do, and then think about who will do it. If you're doing a lot of DIY decorations, for example, who will put them out, and when? Will the venue clean up, or do you need someone to do that? Do you have a lot of different vendors you need to juggle, and will you be upset if you have to take time out from your guests to do that? Do you want someone to announce cake cutting, first dance, etc.--and if so, will your DJ do it or do you need someone else?

I’m getting married in December. I’m also not having one either. Their too expensive and I really don’t think I need one. As far as keeping things on task. I can do that myself. I have my vendors coming at/about the same time. The only one who has free range is my catering company. Our cake is being delivered about 2 hours before our wedding so I can set it up. FH isn’t going to near the reception hall, so I don’t have to worry about him waking around and seeing me. The DJ have two different areas for his things so his good. All he asked for was a guided timeline.

I'm not having one. I trust my family and friends to handle little things like set up of my decorations and clean up afterword. I know I'm not on an island and tbh my fh would drive a day of coordinator crazy as he is in event management himself and is very particular. I'd say decide off of this. Would you rather hire someone to help you out or pick a friend to deputize. How detail oriented are you?

We do not have one because they are way too expensive, the cheapest one i could find in my area was $800 and that's just crazy to me! I am mostly worried about decorating the day of!

We dont have one! Our venue has plenty of people available to make sure things go smoothly, and our DJ and photographer are both amazing and have worked with the venue before so they know how things run and said they will help coordinate everything. We couldnt justify spending over a thousand dollars for someone to run interference basically. We hired awesome vendors and are not worried about anything!

It’s up to you really. In my case I had to hire one because my venue requires one. She’s pretty awesome, I find it helpful since she’s a month of coordinator and she’s based in Denver where the wedding will be. Less for me to worry about from
    New York.

I’m VERY detailed oriented but I have the venue the night before for a few hours so that I can decorate. I’m just trying to figure out how I can make sure everything runs smoothly during the ceremony and reception.
Our venue doesn’t exactly have a Venue Manager as they don’t normally do weddings (my in-laws are members of a union so we got the building for free) and my caterer and dj are not professionals (catering is 4 school cafeteria ladies cooking and my dj is a friend that works as a dj at a skating rink).

I like this concept...once I get my timeline of events I’ll then figure out what needs to get done and see who I can get to do it.

Native New Yorker, FH is a Jersey boy. My photographer is based in Denver. I’ve known her for years and thought why not go there instead? I love the vibe in Denver.
