Anyone order flowers from Costco?

Jen P., on May 27, 2011 at 12:31 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

I'm considering ordering boxes of carnations and making centerpeices with them but it's hard to visualize how many I'll need.. Plus I'm just not sure about it.. if anyone else has used Costco for flowers, please let me know your experience!

I have heard good things but I'm going to just get my flowers directly from them. Their flowers are always gorgeous at the store.

I was planning on ordering their boutineres/corsages ($160 for 15 each, 30 total) so it would be nice to know how they are from people who have ordered from them!

reviews on the costco flower site are pretty good

I will be using Costco if I use real (still deciding between real and silk). I am not sure if you can just walk into their store and get their flowers in bulk though. I would check, but you can easily order online. They even tell you when they recommend that you order them for your event. Anyways, I know people who have ordered theirs in bulk online and never had a problem. They were VERY pretty. They all arrived nicely packaged, none were dying or damaged and looked beautiful on display when she had her pieces set up.

I don't know about ordering bulk, but the last time I was in the store, I asked about buying flowers. Even though I only needed 4 dozen, I was worried I might show up and they wouldn't have what I wanted. The gal said you can call ahead and tell them what you need, and you'll be able to pick them up at the store. I just wanted roses, so it was pretty easy, but you can tell them what color, etc, you need. Their phone number is 1-888-828-9785.

I'm doing centerpieces from costco flowers, but hoping to do either the 100 roses for $80 or baby's breath or something. I'll do about 10 roses per arrangement. The reviews look pretty good, but it seems to vary by flower (with roses, if they arrive damaged, you can at least peel off the outer petals, but with calla lilies and some others, the petals can be damaged, making the flowers not useable.

Google some DIY carnation arrangements for numbers. and make sure to order extras, of course! I'm ordering about 20% more than I need. I think you can do in store pick up or home delivery, I'm doing the in store pick up to make sure they're nice before taking them home.

What are you doing with the flowers after the wedding? I've been wondering what people do with them- donate them? chuck them?

I was just going to invite people to take them home- they will be arranged in mason jars and I went to a wedding where they did the same and I still have my little mason jar with dried lavender to this day Smiley smile it's really pretty and a good home accent.. Donating to a church is not a bad idea though, especially since weddings usually take place the day before, the flowers would still be nice and fresh! neat idea! Perhaps we'll pass them out downtown if no one takes them home.. lol we'll see.. I'm open to see what others are doing, maybe someone else has a better idea.

If you want to donate them, I think you should bring them to a nursing home. I may do this with mine. Just stop by a nursing home by you ahead of time, speak with the activities director or somebody within that department. Tell them you are having a wedding and would love to drop off all the pretty flower pieces afterwards for the residents to enjoy to "brighten up their day". Maybe you could even help pass out if you wanted. I have worked at nursing homes before and let me tell you, there are some residents whom are as sweet as pie there BUT either have no family or they never visit, etc and simple things such as flowers would do brighten up their day! .... Just a thought!

We were looking to use 100roses.net as well. It seems a lot of people used silk flowers which we are not doing, so we wanted a real review of 100roses.net or another site that will provide 100 roses for under $100.00.
