Anyone postponing their Fall 2020 wedding?

Denise, on May 21, 2020 at 4:59 PM Posted in New Jersey Planning 0 2
My fiancé and I decided to move our wedding from October 2021 to October 2020 at the end of February. We found and booked our venue two weeks before COVID-19 hit. Since then I have pieced together a few components of the wedding but am at a loss about whether I should keep moving forward or just postpone back to our original date. It is so difficult to plan u see these conditions. Is anyone else postponing for the Fall at this point? When are you moving it to? What are your venues allowing? Thanks.

    Hi Denise,

I'm sorry that you're feeling nervous and that you're facing the decision to possibly postpone your wedding. The general consensus for fall weddings (Sept-Nov) is that you should proceed with planning. However, you may want to consider your back-up plan sooner than later. Here are some discussions re: fall weddings and what other couples are thinking about postponing:

Re: plan B, perhaps start by considering: if the total guest count had to be <50, what would you do? Getting married on your original date and celebrating the wedding later could be great options. Some couples are doing a ceremony now with a reception later, elopement now with full wedding (ceremony + reception) later, micro weddings and more. Check out these posts:

    Hi Denise,

Me and my FH were originally October 11th this year, but are postponing to October 16th 2021. We decided it was too risky to keep plans and wanted to reschedule before anyone else decided to closer to the date. Our venue had no problem changing our date, and honored the payments we already made but just whipped up a new contract with the new date and that's it! We rescheduled to the new date with almost all of our vendors and it was pretty much the same deal, an easy yes and "here's the new contract". I know we are lucky than most, I've heard some bad rescheduling horror stories, but we feel so much better now and it only took 3 days to reschedule every vendor. We wanted to have the whole wedding experience, including bachelor and bachelorette parties (which would've been cancelled) and shower (which would've been cancelled or extremely restricted and modified), and we didn't want to put some of our high-risk family in danger. I definitely would understand you wanting to postpone!!
