Anyone Regret Wearing Their Hair Down or Half Up Half Down? Any Regrets?

I ask this question not to offend anyone, but because my FMIL (a wedding planner) told me a lot of her brides have regretted wearing their hair down. She said it ends up looking flat towards the end of the wedding and has gotten in the way of pictures. I don't necessarily agree with her, but I was always under impression an updo would be mre elegant and classic. My venue and wedding is pretty formal and that was another reason I went with an updo. I’m sure many women who have had very formal weddings wear their hair down, I just thought knowing me it would be easier to have it up. I just haven't been happy with any of the updos my lady has done, which is unfortunate because I look better with my hair up - I believe. I don’t know what to do. I think doing half up/half down might be a good compromise, but again for work and just out of pure laziness I usually wear my hair up.

My vow renewal is going to be more casual and I plan on wearing my hair half-up/half-done since that's my go-to going out hair style. If I get really sweaty from dancing - will likely throw it up in a messy bun nbd Smiley smile

When my best friend got married 2 years ago, she did a half up half down style and she now regrets it. She was too worried about it going flat and she got hot & sweaty from all the dancing. On her list of things she would go back and change about her wedding, this was one of the first things she said.

I think both your hair trials look lovely. You have a beautiful jaw line and face shape. Having your hair up showcases that.

If you'll be wearing a veil it will help give the illusion of having hair down and it will be the best of both worlds!

Ultimately, do what makes you feel beautiful!

I don't love the way I look with my hair up, so there was zero chance I was considering an updo. I wore my hair down, styled in "Old Hollywood" glam waves, and could not have been happier with it. It lasted all night. Here's a pic from earlier in the day, and another one from about 4am after our after-party, where you can see that it lasted (excuse the tipsy duck lips selfie Smiley xd ). My wedding was definitely formal, and I think the style I chose was very elegant and classic.

I'm doing half up. If you have the right hairdresser (verify with a trial!!), they will use the right tools, methods, and products to make sure it stays in. My hair doesn't hold a curl all that well, but when I did my trial, my hair stayed in beautifully all day through my engagement pictures outside, and still looked pretty good after sleeping on it. I wouldn't worry based on this, I've seen many brides wear theirs down and never heard anyone say that. Personally I dislike how I look with my hair with an updo as I have a somewhat round chin.

You should also pay attention to your hair type and get on a wash/condition schedule that will work - I'm using a lot of leave-in volumizing conditioner prior to wedding, and washing my hair in the morning the day before the wedding so it will hold a curl - but someone with very greasy hair should probably do it a bit differently so as to not let theirs go flat.

Any type of hairstyle can go bad if it's not done correctly. I've had professional updos go frizzy or come out completely. Everyone should find a good stylist and get what they like best that suits them.

I think they both look nice but I definitely think your hair down would be gorgeous. I have thin hair and it doesn't hold a curl well but you don't have to curl it either. I just wanna dig through Pinterest with you. I cannot tell you how invested I am in your hair now lol I was talking about it to my hair and make up artist. Just had my trial. Half up, half down is definitrly in and very stylish right now. The first trial picture reminds me of weddings I went to 8 years ago. Gorgeous but maybe not for you. You have a wonderfully shaped face and can pull of soooo many looks

I never wear my hair up and don't like how it looks. I wore it down, in curls, pinned to the side. It held all the way through till after the after-party and I loved how it looked. Zero regrets.

This is my worry. I'm constantly putting it up and down, and after a blow out, it was basically flat for our engagement pictures. FH wants me to wear it half down, but I'm going to try both at my trial. I like the way I look in pictures with my hair down, but it definitely drives me nuts.

I had planned on wearing my hair up and extensions. However the morning of my wedding, I ended up fighting a migraine aura (probably due to lack of sleep I woke up insanely early and couldn't fall back asleep) so I ended up with my hair half up half down and no extensions. It held up great all day!
