Anyone taken a River Cruise for their Honeymoon?

Marmarcat85, on January 15, 2015 at 6:29 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

The fiance and I are thinking of doing a Grand European River cruise for our honeymoon, like the Viking river cruise or another company. I'm just curious if others have thought about it or have been on one of their cruises. Thanks!

No, but I researched them, and they look just amazing!! I looked at Tauck, but those are both fabulous choices.

If you're thinking of doing this, start looking now; they book up really quickly!

Are you ok with being the youngest onboard? The average age is 55. If you want more young I would pick a family one.

I am so tempted to take one. I get the brochures all the time. As for the ages not a big deal to me, lol fh by the time the wedding is here will be close to 40 and we are not big parties

We looked into it but then I got all wrapped up in planning and the things I could have and that's what I wanted. Now I kind of wish we would have just done a small wedding and did the bug honeymoon.

Aren't those more of a cruise for retired people? The scenery would be amazing though. On second thought, older people can be awesome to hang out with too. Just look into it and make sure that's what want.

What I find funny is that people comment about the age of people but reallyIt's your honeymoon how much time are you spending with other people. To me people that are odder will not be drunk and crazy like you might get on other cruises.

I have not been, but I would love to go one one when we take our big trip next year. My mom gets brochures for Viking cruises all the time and they just look amazing even though they do seem to be geared toward an older crowd, but who cares? It's your honeymoon not spring break.

Gosh we were eyeying these up but it is just out of our budget. Looks awesome though. The only downside I saw was that they do a lot of bus tours once on land and I wasn't sure that we would want to participate in that sorta organized tour thing.

I have cruised with ships that are mostly seniors. One of my favorite perks was to have the pool to ourselves at night. They go night night early so you can have the run of the ship. On the river cruise you could borrow the bikes and bike ride to the next port. Most of them can't do that. It's just at dinner you would stand out LOL. One time I escorted a group over 70. I was all by myself and one of my clients came to get me. She wanted to go to the midnight chocolate event and then go dancing. I think she was 80. It's not a bad thing but you need to be aware.
