Anyone tried press on nails?

Red Queen, on April 14, 2018 at 5:57 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 19

When I was a kid I remember that press on nails were garbage. But I see some really pretty ones on Aliexpress and I've been thinking about it. Has the quality improved any?

I hate getting acrylics or gels and my real nail is rather short so there isn't too much that can be done other than a shape and polish if I don't get some sort of fakes.

Thoughts?

I haven't tried the press on nails so I can't speak to the quality. I am a habitual nail biter so what I have been doing is getting a no chip manicure starting a few weeks before I need my nails to look nice. That way I can't bite them and they grow to a decent length.

I haven't tried press on nails in ages - so not help there. But, a friend of mine recently started getting her nails done via dip powder ... and they look incredible. Not sure if that's along the lines of acrylic or gel -- but might be worth looking into!

I have tried press on and glue on....they are great for one night if you are not doing a lot with your hands. I tend to bite my nails when I travel and since my job requires me to fly places for meetings I needed to find something. I like the Kiss or Broadway brands you get at Target or CVS. They look natural and don't seem to hurt my natural nails.

I literally just started messing with press on nails. This is the set I put on last night and I'm actually surprised at how well they are holding up. I know with practice they can look even better though

I've tried them! I'm wearing a set in the attached pic. They're a nice option if you don't want to get a professional manicure. I have the bad habit of biting my nails and was anxious about getting a manicure, so I tried press-ons.

I did like how they looked on my nails. For me, it took some time to perfect the technique of putting them on. The challenge is placing them close enough to the nail bed that they completely cover the nail underneath. Also, with press-ons that are translucent (like in the pic) sometimes you can see the nail glue underneath and that bothered me.

I think you could give them a try and see how you like them.

I used them for my best friends wedding and if you take your time and put them on right they hold up very well and stay on great! I had them on for about 4 days and I took them off myself they didn't pop off.

I like dip powder, the kind where they actually dip your nails in powder. They aren’t thick like acrylics and work best for short, natural nails. It’s tkme for me to get a refill but here’s an example.

I've done them! Specifically when I broke a nail before a big night out. I think Kiss was the brand name and they were fine. Wedding fine? I'm not sure.
I haven't done powder, but I've tried so many other things. Most of them the problem wasn't while I had them, it was afterward. I was promised that silk, gel and glue would strengthen my nails, they all destroyed them and it took, like, six months for my nails to recover.

I tried the press ones at walmart and they work really well. They wont last a full week or anything, but they are great for a night out without the commitment. I wore them for my engagement pictures.

How long does the soak off take? My salon was going to do them but now arent because of the time involved in soak off.

They arent what they used to be. Ive been using press on nails since i got engaged. I use glue and not the stickers tho. They last a week+ for me, come in tons of shapes and lengths, and I've gotten really good at nails doing them myself that i could never justify a salon doing them. Good luck!

It does take awhile for it to soak off. Like 4-5 tines dipping your hand in. That would be the downfall.

I used these from Walgreens, I had the color on the right and absolutely loved them. They stayed on for a week with no issues, probably would have lasted longer but I can't have colored nails for work, so I had to pull them off.

They were cute, easy to apply (and my nails are bitten down to nothing), and I got compliments on them all night. Also, super cheap.

I got these glue on nails from the pharmacy, and they were perfect! Easy to put on, lasted about a week, and like $5. They did kind of mess up my nail when I took them off, but not as bad as acrylic does.

I can't keep them on for more than a day. If that is what you are wanting just for your wedding day then it will last. I may just be rough on my nails. But i wouldn't want to risk losing one at the reception.
