Apathy, the Killer of Wedding Planning

Marisa-in-Love, on November 13, 2013 at 8:01 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3

I don't know about you ladies, but the last 2 weeks I have emailed vendors, set up appointments, rolled and glued paper flowers, worked on my DIY invitations, started to coordinate with my FSIL on our epics (engaged for a year and a half... yea I should prolly get on that lol), and during all of these projects and planning...

I COULDN'T CARE LESS! I am so TIRED of dealing with wedding stuff and stressing over money we don't have for a wedding that I am doing my hardest to keep simple and laid back, while still being elegant, but the $$ keeps adding up Up UP!. Anybody else thinking "Damn it, I should have eloped!"?

For me, it goes in phases -- if I start to get obsessed with something or stressed out, I take a step back. The wedding is one day; the marriage is what matters and is most sacred to us. FH has been great about planning and the budget plus we're in a different phase of life than most so we're a little more chill/apathetic than most about details.

I think apathy on a small scale is good; I don't want to let anything "ruin" the fun we are having or the plans we are making for our future. If a vendor is unresponsive or a detail is missed, ok, that's not perfect, but what is? For so many things I'm kind of like "Eh, ok, sure, whatever works" because it's going to be fine no matter what. Right? We'll be married.

My MOH's band didn't show up at her wedding and the florist was late and brought the wrong flowers. It was stressful but she called in a solo artist who could make it last minute, and as for the flowers, nobody (even me) knew they were wrong. The day was beautiful anyway.
