Appetizers plates and cups

Janae, on October 7, 2021 at 8:36 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
So we are having a Caterer for dinner, but not for appetizers. What did you have for appetizers and will it look bad to have plastic plates and cups for appetizers? Of course nice looking ones. Anyone else who did their own appetizers what plates and cups did you use?

Although our venue handled appetizers, they did use nice looking plastic dishes (safer with covid as the staff wouldn’t have to wash them). Honestly I didn’t even remember they were plastic till now 😂 For me, it didn’t take away from the aesthetic having plastic cups or dishes for cocktail hour. ❤️

Guests won’t remember little details like that so don’t worry about tit. We just had my daughters wedding last weekend and while it was 100% catered the caterer suggested we use “high end plastic” for appetizers to save a little money and used China and glass only for dinner. These are the little things that can save money and guests won’t even notice.

I’ve never seen actual China plates at any wedding. Typically appetizers are passed or just or napkins. Very rarely have I seen plates for appetizers. But nothing wrong with plastic or heavy paper Chinet plates from Costco.

I would double check and make sure your caterer is okay with this. Most caterers I've talked with don’t allow you to have any other food at the event, except a cake made by a professional bakery.
