Dedicated October 2021

Appropriate time to reach out to Vendors

Corrin, on March 30, 2021 at 7:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Our wedding is October 30th, 2021 (pushed from May due to covid) and we got all our contracts redone/resigned months ago.

I still have 7 months until my wedding, but I guess because I've never prepared such a large event, I get anxious about whether or not vendors remember lol. I'm wondering when is the appropriate time to reach out to vendors to make sure everything is still a-okay and on track? 6months away? 4? 2?

My worst fear is that someone just doesn't show up on the day of, but I also know that vendors are busy and don't need to be reassuring me every month that we're still on haha.

When did you start reaching out to your vendors?

I would probably reach out within 2-3 months before the wedding, but if it's bothering you now, I don't think it would hurt to send out a message now, asking if they're waiting on any info from you, or if there is anything you need to do at this time. I'm confident that the vendors have your date on your calendar! I wouldn't reach out every month, but if you wanted to reach out once now and once closer to the wedding, I don't think that would hurt anything.

I agree, a couple months out is the appropriate timeline! They are professionals, they have it scheduled, and no one likes working for someone who wastes their time! Better to let them focus on their current brides and then give you their attention when it adds value. Since they are providing services with subjective quality, it’s a good idea to be the person they want to do their best for 😋

I'm so happy you asked this!! I've been feeling the exact same way. Did they forget me?! Should I check in!? Mine is also in October, and I was planning to reach out sometime in the summer, like 3-4 months prior. They do this all the time so I'm sure they have a protocol and timeline, but my florist and hair stylist were the only ones who explicitly told me "check back in at this date". I wish all vendors did that! 😆

Not to alarm you, my wedding was suppose to be in May. I contacted my venue in February to check on things only to learned they have sold to someone else. The new owners have no experience/interest in keeping me as their client so we lost our venue and it just went down hill from there.

    I guess I’m a special case.

Honestly, you can reach out whenever. We pushed our big wedding back to October 2021 as well and I periodically reach out to each of our vendors, none of them mind.
