April 2019 Brides!!

Elizabeth, on September 4, 2018 at 7:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 26
April Brides!! What do you all have done?? We just recently got engaged so I'm just starting to get some appointments set up but I am definitely behind. What was the first thing you got booked? How early did you order your dress?

Hi there Elizabeth and congrats on your engagement!! Smiley ring

In my experience, couples usually book their wedding venue first. That way, the date is set in stone and couples can tell the other vendors where they will be working. The other April 2019 brides in the ww Buddy?? For April 13, 2019 or April 2019 month discussion could give you another sense of what you should be looking at booking first.

What appointments have you already set up?

The first thing we did before we did anything was come up with a potential guest list. Then we set a budget and looked into if we could realistically afford all those on the potential guest list on our budget. Then we started searching for venues. We are getting married the first week of April we have venue, food, photography all booked. Bridesmaids have been asked and dresses chosen and flowers are about half done I still have to finish them. Table decor is about 30% done. I have a few signs still to make but I feel we’ve got a great handle on it. The only big thing we don’t have booked is dj which I need to get on

Engaged right around this past Christmas!

January: The first thing we did was reserve a date with our church (no ceremony, no reception). Once that was set in stone, we found venues that were available on that date. We made our tentative guest list and then selected a reception venue that would fit our budget.

February: Made a rough plan for budgeting based on what the reception (the biggest expense: # of guestsXcost per meal (including open bar)). Researched and booked a photographer. Started looking at dress photos.

March: Shopped around and ordered a dress (visited 3 bridal shops; the second one was the charm)! This was the most fun task.

April: Went to a weekend of pre-marriage counseling (church required it). Researched and booked a rehearsal dinner venue. Reserved the time of the musicians for the church ceremony. Planned the format of the rest of the ceremony. Confirmed my bridal party (I sent them a cute giftbox and keep checking on the shipping status until I heard from each girl)

May: Booked a hair/makeup artist. The groom researched and booked a band for the reception music

June: researched florists. It took forever to get quotes this month (busy wedding season month)

July: Created a gift registry; booked a florist; launched wedding website; ordered and mailed save the dates. My dress also arrived! It's sitting in my closet until alterations in early 2019, so this was earlier than necessary...We didn't need to do a lot of this stuff so soon, but we had a lot of free time this month, so figured why not.

August: Cake tasting! We placed the cake order immediately after the tasting because it was so good and just easy to accomplish a task in one day.

September: Honestly, not much going on this month! We researched wedding rings, but will not order them until January.

October: We have our engagement photos scheduled, we have a tasting to finalize the menu at our venue scheduled, and will do my hair and makeup trial on the same day

What we have left: arrange transportation to and from the ceremony/reception for us and guests, my dress alterations will probably start in February, we'll have final meetings with our photographer/florist/band in the weeks before the wedding

Congratulations!!!! My date is April 13th! We have everything pretty much planned because I’m a teacher and wanted everything to be planned before school started again. We have also been engaged since October of last year so we have had time. We started with a venue and locked that in. Then we did our catering and dj. I went dress shopping in April of this year so about a year out, which is kind of early but I was excited lol. The only things left are last minute details and plans. Happy planning ☺️

Book your venue first!! Venues book pretty fast so make sure to decide where you want it and book!! I have booked all of my vendors and sending out my save the dates this week! I just ordered my wedding dress a few weeks ago and hoping to get it by the beginning of October 😊😊. All I need to do now is work on bridesmaids dresses and a few other small details for the wedding

Venue first!!! I think that will help give you an idea of everything else pretty much! We booked our venue about a month ago for April 27th (so you aren't too far behind lol). We knew we wanted a destination wedding, but wanted something affordable enough that we didn't have to cut down too much on our guest list... Actually ended up picking my dress about a week before we nailed down the venue... I didn't think I would find one at the first place that I looked, but sure enough I did! So I picked it like Aug. 4th (I think) and they said I will have it by February. I am pretty sure it is designer specific, but I would jump on that first thing too!!!!

We also did our overall budget first, then general guest list/rough headcount then venue search. So far we've booked the venue, which includes catering, cake and alcohol. We've also booked our photographer, band, hair and makeup for the bridal party, and a florist. We're working on hotel blocks and our wedding website now. I'm saving decor for closer to the date.

    Congratulations!! Smiley smile

We have booked everyone except for our florist (venue, officiant, DJ, photographer) - catering is included in the venue. I bought my dress and officially ordered it a couple weeks ago because it will take 6 months to come in. Ordering bridesmaid dresses in November (to take advantage of Black Friday sales) and still need to pick out mensware for the groom and groomsmen. We set up registries and a wedding website in August, and just sent out our Save The Dates last week.

I agree with other comments - figure out a rough guest list and pick a venue (make sure that your venue can accommodate your guest list). After that, book the vendors that are most important to you (photography was really important to us, so that was the second vendor we booked).

I am talking with catering companies now and looking for my wedding dress tomorrow! We will take our engagement photos in October and use those pictures as our Christmas card/Save the Date. Bridesmaids and groomsmen have been asked and we have the bachelorette party booked in Nashville Smiley smile So happy for everyone getting married in April!

I usually share this: get a free wedding only email account. Sign up for all the free give aways and expos.
Then I would sit down with your betrothed and talk about the size and point of your wedding. That’ll dictate what kind of venue you should look for and your budget.
I had a long engagement so we were able to take our time and decide what was important.
Venue is at the top of the list. It sets the tone for the rest of it and it’ll likely be the largest line item in your budget.

The first thing I booked was the venue. I highly recommend looking at places ASAP. Also make sure you have at least 3 and see what they offer, whether it's the food, bar, servers and what they help clean and dispose of.
Then I booked the DJ, photographer and caterer which were all the big expensives. Right now I am finalizing the guest list and will be sending out my save the dates this month. Currently next, I will be looking at dresses!!! Kinda nervous and excited about that process.... Good luck to all my April brides and if you need any tips please let me know !!!❤️❤️

Gosh I feel so behind! The only thing I’ve booked is my venue. My mom keeps telling me it’s too early to have stuff done 😫. My sister just had to call her wedding off because she ran out of time to get everything done and I definitely don’t want to be in her shoes. I’m trying to get things done but with my parents paying for it I have to approve everything through them and they don’t seem to think I should really have anything done yet. I've set up our website and guest list but haven't even ordered save the dates yet.

Hi! April 13, 2019 bride here. We have our venue (includes catering, alcohol, and cake), DJ, church for ceremony, my dress and shoes, photographer, videographer, florist, cocktail hour musicians, hotel block, all done. Right now my big project is Save the Dates. My mom insists on ones with our photo but we hate photos!! That and firming up the guest list have been nagging at me.

This weekend I am starting with many of our DIY projects. Place deposit for DJ, Photographer and Photobooth. We are going for a tasting next weekend. Many other things to square away but I think I am coming along.

Hey all! April 12th 2019 here. I got engaged June 2018. So far we have booked our venue (includes ceremony and catering), finalized guestlist, booked videographer, photographer, purchased my dress about a month ago. Definitely start with a rough guest list and budget then go pick your venue. It is not as stressful as it may seem. Next up is save the dates, bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen attire. Congrats on the engagement!
