Arch or no arch?

Jazz, on September 24, 2018 at 10:23 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 25

hello everyone! We are getting married at YMCA of the Rockies in an outdoor ceremony. I've been grappling with going through the effort of getting an arch or not. It's a destination wedding so I do have that to think about. Although we know people who live in Estes Park who have expressed that they'd like to help any way they can! Just wondering if it's even worth it.

I'm attaching photos of the ceremony site with and without the arch! Please let me know what you think!! Smiley smile

Oops I guess I can’t edit to upload photos on mobile. Here are the pics! With arch is when we visited in May. I guess the person getting married that day was using an arch. Personally I would use a different arch and added greenery/flowers actually. The other photos off of google !

Definitely arch with flowers and that beautiful background scene. Great for pictures. I would order an arch send it to their address and place an order of flowers over the phone for that day pick up with at least two peoples names(for emergency). You don't have to spend a lot use joannss fabric with coupon for the arch. It's white. Put it up in 15 mins.

I say do the arch try to see if you can rent it. Order silk flowers in your colors and have them delivered to the event area or your friend's house.

I don't think you need an arch that's a beautiful background on its own.

    Save the money and headache.

We planned on getting married in an orchard and people were trying to bully me into getting an arch but I thought getting married in front of the big tree there was perfect for me plus I didn't want to spend even more money /effort getting an arch there and taking it down.

We ended up getting rained out so I'm even more happy I didn't give in and get an arch!

I wouldn’t bother with the effort of the arch. The natural background is already stunning on its own

I think a rustic natural wood arch, such as a birch wood, would be stunning!! If someone in the area you know could make this (I know there are bich, aspen, etc allllll over CO) it would be so pretty!

So I love the addition of the arch, Jazz, but if it's a destination wedding, even if people are offering to help at the destination, I would forego the arch. You don't need it - your venue would be gorgeous without decorations just naturally - so unless you and your FS are like, "we NEED this arch," I wouldn't bother with it. But that's just my two cents. Smiley smile

If you do the arch, what sort of flowers would you decorate it with?

No we definitely aren't like "we need it." The only pro really is for photos and I am not interested in spending more money on something no one will miss haha. I think I am overthinking it like that guests would want to take pictures in front of it afterwards lol. I just don't want it to be too plain and like i didn't try at all. Maybe I'll put something in the railings? And I'm not doing an specific flowers! We are just doing will "berry" colors so purple, maroonish, dark blue and maybe some magenta. We are just planning on wildflowers that we'll be getting at a farm the day before! and thank you for the advice!

I would skip the arch. The background is so beautiful and I wouldn't want to obscure it. It's also not worth the effort. We're getting married on the beach so we pretty much need one and it's been such a hassle. Rentals are so expensive so we're trying to plan how we can build our own even though it's a destination wedding.

I think it looks really pretty with the arch. Either way the scenic background is beautiful so with or without it will be fine.

I honestly don't think you need it. I wouldn't put anything is the way of that VIEW!! Wow. What a great venue. Use the money for something else.

If I were a guest at your wedding - which I won't be - I feel like the arch might get in my way. I'd want to take pictures of the nature behind me!

I feel like some berry colored flowers on the railings would look splendid. Little bouquets on the banisters or the thicker poles. That would look awesome. Smiley smile

The scenery is gorgeous! I'm having a destination wedding myself, and ultimately decided against it *because of* the photos. Look at people's photos...something is always off center, either the couple, the angles of the photos, the bridal party. Everything very rarely looks properly centered. It will be beautiful whatever you decide!!
