Are bridal showers still a thing?

Kyra, on September 1, 2019 at 3:52 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 14
Do people still do bridal showers or do we just stick to having a bachelorette party?

Yes, bridal showers are still a thing. Your bridesmaids should plan something for you or maybe even your family members.

They're still very much a thing! Just search "BAS" on here and you'll find lots of posts about people's bridal showers! I didn't have one because it was a destination wedding and the people my mom wanted to invite weren't invited to the wedding.

Yes. If someone offers to host a shower for you, they're definitely still a thing.

They're still a thing although Bachelorette parties are making them rarer. Personally (to the best of my knowledge) I'm not having one, but we will have a Bachelorette weekend in nyc (just a short train ride away, and one of my bridesmaids lives there)

They are still very common. I am having two wedding showers and no bachelorette party I didn't want a bachelorette party. My FH and I both attend the wedding shower.

I think bridal showers are still a thing! My mom and MOH are putting my bridal shower together and my MOH is taking care of the bachelorette. Since most of my bridesmaids are out of state, we’ll have the bachelorette after the bridal shower while everyone is in town 😊

They’re definitely still a thing! We have 4 different groups of people ask to throw us one so we’ll have 4 showers! I’ll still be having a bachelorette party as well!

A shower should be hosted by someone else -- who offers to host one for you. It's considered very bad etiquette for the bride to host a shower for herself (it's basically asking people to give you gifts). If friends or family offer to host a shower for you, and ask for your input, it would be great to share your ideas about a potential brunch shower, but you want to be careful not to overstep and "tell them what to do." Read old posts about this. There was just one in the last week from a bride who was mad/disappointed that what her BMs did wasn't "good enough" by her standards. That's pretty much a recipe for potentially being seen as a bridezilla. If someone is kind enough to offer to host a party, whatever they do should be appreciated with gratitude.
