Are Cake Toppers Necessary?

We are the same, unsure with a monogram topper or just do flowers... It will all depend on the final design of the cake... I'm thinking sugar orchids though... I had the mantra in my head from David Tutera too... he hates cake toppers.

I think you should do whatever will enhance the design of your cake/wedding. We're using two Swarovski swans as our "topper."

I'm doing a very simple cake, top tier only, and then sheet cakes for the guests that will be cut and ready to serve in the back. I HATE fondant, so I want the cake to look a bit (and I mean bit) rustic/romantic with just the frosting and a couple of flowers. IF we do a cake topper, which I'm really not wanting to do, just flowers, it'll be a simple wire one that says "we do" which I found on etsy.

Can't stand cheesey cake toppers. I'm doing flowers, too!

I'm debating on whether I should have one. I think some are pretty neat but a topper may not go with the design of our cake.

You do what you want. We had flowers around our cake, and a topper because we found someone who makes toppers to look like the couple and put me in a replica of my dress, and hubby in his dress uniform complete with correct stripes and all, and it came with a display case for after. We just sent a pic of the two of us.

No, toppers definitely are not necessary.

I will have no cake topper. I love the look of a simple, two or three tiered cake with a ribbon in our wedding colors along the bottom of each tier. Nothing on top. I'm kinda simple like that though lol

David tutera never uses them I plan on putting some flowers on the top of our cake. unless we had a cake topper made that looked exactly like us, I wouldn't have them myself.

So glad I'm not the only one who takes what David Tutera says VERY SERIOUSLY! LOL

We didn't have a cake topper, just simple flowers (orchids). It was a very simple cake, and the flowers added just the right touch, IMHO! Plus, it's an easy way to save $30-100 dollars!
