Are card boxes necessary?

I'm almost thinking of not having one. Or just having maybe a basket for people to put cards in. Is anyone else not having one?

I agree with the above posts. It doesn't need to be a box but it should be something enclosed. Also you should have someone asssigned to watch it at all times. People actually tagert weddings to steal that. I've heard of it happening quite often. Its really sad

I was always taught that one should send gifts to the home of the couple, not bring them to the reception, because you don't want to burden the couple by making them figure out a way to get the gifts home. However, at our wedding, precisely one guest remembered that rule. Everyone else brought cards and gifts to the reception.

We weren't too worried about security, because there were employees of the venue responsible for security at the door, and the gift table was right next to them. (And like almost everyone else involved with our wedding, they were personal friends, so we didn't worry about them stealing.) However, we wanted to have some container for cards, just to make sure none got accidentally knocked off the table and lost. We used a very simple birdcage for the purpose.

We're using a white bird cage to hold the cards (which goes great with our lovebird theme) & placing it somewhere near our table (which is along the wall w/windows & has multiple guest tables btw it & the exit). Bestman will empty it if needed & move contents to the safe in our room.

I DIY'ed my card box. I still need to add some finishing touches, but I'm focusing on finding a photographer and doing the ring bearer pillow lately.

I didn't know you even needed on until a month ago! I was like, "What the heck is a card box?!"

I'm still suck on my flower girl baskets. I'm thisclose to throwing in the towel & buying a fake flower to put on them!

And now this stupid box thing. Ugh.
