Are Chair Covers Tacky!?

In effort to save on costs I’m thinking of using white chair covers & teal sashes. Is that tacky or outdated? Will anyone notice they aren’t chiavari!?

I’ve seen tons of posts about this in the past; looking for current thoughts.

Thank you!

Thank you, everyone, for your comments! I think we'll bite the bullet and go with the Chiavari chairs to really finish our Italy/Tuscan theme.

Our venue was built in the 40’s and everything is red vinyl. I hate it. So chair covers are happening! Depends on your style and what you’re covering up Smiley smile

I would definitely not do the chair covers. Chivari chairs would look much better.

I don’t like chair covers I do think it’s tacky/outdated but it’s totally up to you! If you decide not to it might save you some money!

Honestly if they aren't chiavari chairs then I prefer the chair cover look. Any other chair besides the white resin chairs (which are usually only used outdoors) I think ruin the ambiance.

I don't think they're tacky! I will say that the last thing I notice about a wedding is the chairs! I'm just sitting on them, so I really don't pay attention to them! If any guest cares that much about the style of chair, if they're covered or if they are chiavari, they're being a nitpicky guest Smiley smile

No I personally feel they bring everything together. I think it looks bad without chair covers.

I'm getting white chair covers with the black bows at my venue. I told my FH right from the beginning that I wanted chair covers because the chairs at the venue are gold with the brown/gray cushions. It's a little expensive at $7.50 a chair, but I really don't like the chairs. If they had the nice chairs I would be fine without covers.

I think that will look very!! I know chair covers or renting chairs is so expensive it's crazy. And it seems like a waste of money, but I think it's totally worth it!! You won't be sad about paying the extra for the chair covers as it will really complete your look. We were fortunate our venue had very pretty chairs that went well with our decor. But if it were anything else, I would have opted for the chair covers and bows like you.

We didn't have chair covers and just had the standard black metal folding chairs for our reception. No one cared or noticed. Maybe it's just where I'm from but I have never paid attention to the chairs, as long as I have a place to sit. If your reception is more formal, I get it. The chiavari chairs look nice but I still wouldn't break the bank over it. If you don't like the chair covers, don't feel like those are your only option. You could still dress up chairs with just a sash.

Personally, I don’t care for chair covers. I find them tacky and dated. I think if the chairs they provide are just a basic neutral, that would look much better than cheap chair covers.

I think I can even use them after the wedding for some cute DYI craft projects Smiley winking

I don't see chair covers being tacky at all! Sure they've been used so many times but they can still look so beautiful if it's done well! Don't be discouraged.
