Are Chiavari Chairs really worth it?

Crazyinlove<3, on April 11, 2016 at 5:19 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 73

I've decided not to get Chiavari Chairs because it would be about $1600 extra that I don't want to spend. I love the way they look...they add alot of character, but I can't justify the price for them. Personally, I do not like the look of chair covers. Just wondering your guy's thoughts. I attached a picture of the chairs that will be at our reception...at no extra cost! The last picture shows Chiavari Chairs (random picture).

I love Chiavari chairs and you could fit more people at our tables with them. That being said we only included them because they came without venue package at no additional cost. With that much of a difference I would probably stick with what the room comes with, they don't look bad at all.

I love chiavari chairs and they are one of our "fun" budget allocations. Is it silly? Yes. But I love the way our ballroom looks with them. If it means a lot to you and is in your budget, go for it. If not, no one really notices- it's more of a personal thing!

I think they're pretty in pictures I've seen, but I saw a few sitting out when I toured a venue and the cushions looked worn. In person, they looked awful. I'd check them out in person before making a decision.

I've had the same battle in my head. I've decided that it's worth it (for me) they photograph beautifully and they go really well with my venue, I have an image stuck in my head that I don't want to let go of... So I've decided to pay for them.

Side note: my venue has a 20% discount with the rental company and our guest list is small-medium, so we were able to make it work.

My opinion as a photographer : for detail venue shots, I love the Chiavari chairs. Once people sit down, I like the look of covered chairs for the simple reason that the back of the chairs in the images are all the same. It's a much cleaner look. Guests' wardrobes get all funky when leaning their backs against the Chiavari chairs. Smiley smile

I like the look of chiavari chairs, but there is definitely something else I want more that I would use that money for. People won't remember the chairs when it's all said and done, so unless you absolutely have your heart set on those chairs, I would skip them.

I love them too, but wouldn't pay for them either. We went through the same thing when picking chairs, and then thought, who remembers the chairs at a wedding? I don't. And I agree with you about Chair covers. I don't care for the look of them either and renting them also adds to the cost.

$1600 is a lot for butt parking and people won't care or remember them. I could see maybe doing chair covers if it's not too expensive, otherwise skip it.

We decided to get chivari chairs but it was because the price difference was less less than $300. I will never spend $1,600 on chairs.. plus the chairs that come with your venue seems fine! I don't think you will need to get chair covers for those

Those are the exact chairs my venue has. We were torn on renting better chairs but the ones they had already were actually way more comfortable. And I truly don't remember the chairs at any wedding I've ever been to, so we scrapped the added expense.

I really wanted Chiavari chairs but settled for the chair covers. I'm thinking about me and FH having Chiavari chairs just for us to stand out

$1.6K for chairs is (for me) a lot to swallow! The chairs that your venue provide look very nice so I wouldn't worry about it.

I like the look of them. My venue includes them but I wouldn't have paid extra.

I love Chiavari chairs, but was adamant about not paying extra for them. I ended up finding a venue where the chair was included. They had me at "yes, the chiavari chairs are included no extra charge."

Nope, not worth it, especially not $1600 worth it! Honestly, no one will remember or care what type of chair they are sitting on as long as it's comfortable. And the chairs you've posted that come with your venue look great! Much better than some other venue-standard chairs.

Chairs were one thing I was surprised to discover I cared about when I started planning. I'm not a picky bride at all, but I really, really hate chair covers lol. Chiavari chairs are the one thing I'm splurging on. People always say, "No one ever notices or remembers chairs!" But, I'm a weirdo and I absolutely do.

That being said, if my venue had nice chairs (like those white fancy looking folding chairs) included in the price, I definitely would not have upgraded.

ETA: I don't think your venue's banquet chairs are bad at all.

I hate chair covers too. I think your complimentary chairs are fine. And they look stable/comfortable. No one will remember your chairs unless they themselves are in the wedding planning world and are just sensitive to it right now because of that. I can't remember what the chairs looked like at the last few weddings I attended, one of them being yesterday. Once the room is full of people, they will be absorbed in the room.

We are renting cheap(ish) white chairs but only because the chairs that are available at our church are so wide that only 6 can fit at a table. I want to maximize the space so I'm getting smaller chairs so we can put 8. We are spending less than $300 on it so I thought that it would be worth it.
