Are fake flowers tacky?

I really want to do flowers in Mason jars as my centerpieces for my wedding. I refuse to get them through a florist because it's too overpriced and I am on a tight budget. My wedding is at 11:30AM, so everything has to be done the night before (or even earlier than that). My original idea was to have a family member put the flowers in jars for me the day before the wedding and drop them off at the venue. The venue told me they have no refrigerator for my flowers and that nothing can be dropped off until the day of anyway. So it looks like I'll have to do fake flowers. are fake flowers tacky for a wedding centerpiece?

Real flowers are very important in my wedding planning but if you don't care about them, your guest wont either!

I am personally opting out of floral centerpieces cuz I don't want to cough up the money for real flowers and I like the alternative centerpieces better. I will be using fake flowers as my aisle runner and whatever else that won't be obviously fake...my bouquet will be real. Everyone elses?..not sure yet

What about Sam's club, costco, or a bulk site like fifty flowers for some hardy varieties like what KT suggested? I hate fake flowers and would only use real-looking (red: expensive) ones at places like the altar where no one will be close enough to know they're not real. I don't think I would call them tacky, just not my taste.

I am using all silk...they look great...very close to real and less money than real at least with my florist. Also can pick them up before day of... I agree with the comments here that it's mostly your taste and how much you're willing to pay to have them look nice.

Rachel, I am also doing mason jars. I'm putting baby's breath in them for a simplistic look. The awesome thing is you can buy a huge box of them for $100 from Costco! They're pretty resilient flowers so you could set them up the night before.

If you don't have a membership, I've heard a rumor that if you have a gift card, you don't need a membership to get in.

^^Or a friend with a membership! That's what I'm doing to get my greens. But seriously a box does not look like a lot but my FCIL filled like 8 buckets with flowers and it stayed out at room temperature for 3 days and they were perfectly fine.

Fake all the way! I decided fake for budget reasons but love the fact that I can keep my bouquet forever! I ordered all my bouquets, bouttoniers and coursages from a store on Etsy, paid less than $300 total. FYI-a florist quoted me $2,100. I am doing vases will blue gems and candles as centerpieces so no worries there. I also don't have to stress about my flowers being delivered on time or not being right the day of. I have everything months in advance.

I don't think so. We are using fake/silk flowers for bouquets (took advantage of Hobby Lobby's 50% off sale) and having flowerless centerpieces. Both FH, I, and the majority of our wedding party all suffer from allergies. We would be a group of red eyed, runny nosed, miserable people all day if we had real flowers.

Fake flowers that look fake are tacky. Fake flowers that look real are not.

I think I'm doing silk flowers. I've been going back and forth, but I think in order to make sure I have the flowers I want in the color I want, I have to do silk. I want lavender/lilac colored roses. I found that Sam's Club has some real ones, but some of the reviews people posted said they look kind of pink. I don't want to risk them looking pink, so I think I'll just get silk ones to make sure they are the color I want. I think I'm going to order from here:

Use candles as cemeteries! They add ramce and elegance to any table. Buy them in different sizes in height. There is no need for fake flowers.

I found that nice fake flowers were more expensive then real flowers. I am also having a morning wedding. I am using Oasis flower foam for my centerpieces. I did a test and it lasted great. I am doing my centerpieces the morning before and having one of my cousins deliver them to the reception site that morning.

If you are doing a baby's breathe centerpiece, here is a great tutorial. Only note, make sure when you soak your floral foam, do it in a container large enough for it to become submerged. Do not force the foam down, let it float and sink on it's own. Leave it until there are no more bubbles coming out.

I probably wouldn't have thought anything of fake flowers until I seen many many episodes of "4 weddings" that the guest brides dis the brides with fake flowers. Now all I can see is people touching them and "saying" it's "tacky". Probably all because of that show!

I think real flowers are overrated. So much money for dead plants. No thank you!

I should also say, while I'm not having real flowers, I'm not having fake flowers either! Maybe I just don't see a need for flowers at all.
