Are flip flop baskets worth it????

Now Mrs.S, on February 18, 2013 at 12:15 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13

I definitely like the idea of them but I have never been to a wedding that had one so I can't tell if they are a waste of money or if guests really like them. Is anyone having or did anyone have one at their wedding? If so, did they get worn by guests? Where are you getting them [I've looked at Old Navy but so far they don't have our colors [orange/yellow/mint green]]? Do you just get a mix of sizes and hope that they fit everyone?

I actually ordered flip flops for my bridesmaids and then put rhinestone gems on the straps (So cute) I have seen the flip flop baskets on other posts and they are too cute! I think they are a cute idea and I love tiny details. I would think some people may use them. I don't know that I would spend a ton of money on them. Wait for Old Navy to have their dollar sale on them and then maybe put them in one of those plastic beach totes (Dollar stores have them) As for sizes I would do maybe a few from 6-10. Maybe buy more of your own size so if people don't wear them you get yourself a bunch of new flip flops lol. Good luck Smiley smile

I got like 50 pairs of flip flops for $35 last spring at Michael's in fuchsia (they were $1.50/pair and cheaper for the couple kids ones). I got a variety of sizes; mostly M/L but we got quite a few S and then just a couple XS (those were the sizes at Michael's). Whether they're a hit or not, I can stand to be out $35 so, we'll see!

I think if you find a great deal on them, they are a great touch, but not something I'd break the bank over

I wouldn't worry about them matching your colors (and they ladie's whose feet hurt wont mind either!) I'd get a few in the most common sizes and I'd get more bigger than smaller, you can wear flip flops that are a size or two too big easy

I found a lot of new ones on wedding classifieds and then hit the dollar sale at Old Navy.

I am having a beach wedding so it gives those who wore the wrong shoes an option and then the basket will be moved inside close to the dance floor.

Ironically the last two weddings, I would have paid $100 to have flip flops because my feet were killing me after dancing so much. So yes, don't break the bank but I think it's a nice option!

No. If guests can't choose comfortable footwear for themselves, it is not your responsibility to do it for them. When I told my 33 year old (married for 8 years) sister this was a new wedding thing, she and I died laughing together.

To each their own, but IMO, it's completely silly and a total waste. There. Now you know how I really feel :-p

I've never heard of this "flip flop basket" you speak of. What's the purpose? Is it for a beach wedding, or just for guests who wore uncomfortable shoes? (which is almost always me)

We are having a flip flop basket at our wedding. Old Navy has a huge flip flop sale in the summer and I think ours were $1/pair. We really want everyone to have fun and dance. I have been to many a weddings where I have kicked my shoes off so I could shake it on the dance floor and since dancing will be outside, it is a courtesy to our guests and encouragement to have fun and dance!

I LOVE THEM! Sometimes, you choose nice heels for a formal wedding, and then halfway through the reception, your feet aren't so happy anymore. We'llAlwaysHaveParis, I am an adult and have happily danced away in aching feet or retreated to the car for flat shoes I've stashed, but it is always so nice to know that a bride was so sweet as to have flip flops for guests. Don't let it break your budget, but this is one of the best favors I've gotten!

@Kelly L-It's just a basket of flip flops [usually in your colors] next to the dance floor for ladies to use if their feet start to hurt from the heels. You can also use them for a beach wedding [or anywhere that may be difficult to walk in] so heels don't sink.

I would guess that is depends on your wedding.

For my daughters wedding, at a city hotel, they would have been a huge waste of money. But, at a beach wedding, great idea.

We'llAlwaysHaveParis I totally agree with you, but I really hate when people kick off their shoes and are barefoot on the dance floor especially at a formal wedding. I've seen this too many times and that's why I will definitely be having one.
