Are French tip manicures no longer popular?

Kristina, on October 11, 2019 at 8:47 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 21

I'm aware I should do what I want Smiley winking but curious to get the popular opinion. I'll be in an ivory dress and we have very classic, traditional wedding vibes. I was thinking of doing French for both mani & pedi; but I've been seeing the light pinks/nudes and liking those too!! Unsure what to do here lol

I think I have the unpopular opinion here, but I'm kind of over french tips. If you wanted a more modern twist on the classic french tip, you could do a clear to white or white to pink gradient.

Now that you mention it, I feel like I don't see French tips very often anymore. Styles change all the time, that doesn't mean they aren't still beautiful!

For my wedding, I'm pretty sure I'd go the nude nail route just because I don't like the way French tips look on me personally. I do love the look of white French tips with maybe a line of glitter between the tip and the rest of the nail, or sometimes they'll have a little lacey/floral design over top. Do you have any inspiration pictures?

Unlike the other two posters, I like the French manicures. In fact, that's what I got for my wedding and my two proms. It is totally up to you what you personally like. I know one of my bridesmaids also got a French manicure. Two of my bridesmaids painted their own nails with regular polish. My other bridesmaid doesn't like a lot of makeup or anything like that so she got a light gray manicure. The groomswoman got a regular manicure as well. She got a really dark purple even though I asked the girls not to get anything too dark, but of course she didn't listen. Everyone likes something different so it really is a personal choice.

I did a blush to white ombré (with SNS) on my natural nails and it is so pretty and is subdued. I wanted to keep my nails pretty simple. Here is a photo for reference.

I’ve been wondering the same. I do feel like a true French is “over” for the time being but I’m not a fan of ombré and feel like French is a classic that will be back but ombré might only be in for a season.

I don’t know what I’m doing yet either!

Yeah, i don't dig french tips anymore. I mostly see them on middle aged overdone soccer moms who have been getting them forever. I think a nude or ballet pink, or something like that looks so much classier!

I don't mind french tips, I think they are still pretty! I did an ombre french tip for our wedding. I also think full white or full nude is pretty for wedding nails.

I had a French manicure for mine! I love the classic look. I also just did light pink on my toes, because I painted them myself 😂 didn’t want to bother spending the money on a professional pedicure since no one was really going to see my toes anyway. (Also my mama and I used the same polish on our toes so we felt like we were matching 😄)

A French manicure is timeless. Ombré, glitter, half moon, hologram, whatever... we’ll, we will see. 😂

I personally am not a huge fan of french anymore... I'm going with a nude/taupe color or a pretty white. I think it's a personal preference thoughSmiley smile

If I ever get a French manicure, I have them put a subtle pink base color on to give it a little something. Sometimes it’ll have a slight sparkle to it, just so it’s a little more exiting than the traditional coloring. However it is not my favorite nail style, and I will not be doing it for my wedding.

I actually think a nude nail or light pink is timeless. I'm a 90s kid and French manis always look super dated to me (especially when they're really long and square, with a bright white tip.)

This was my manicure for my wedding last year. In the second picture, my hand is in the middle. My daughters are on either side. They got some neutral version of dusty rose. All three are nice options.

Yes, the square talon French manicure definitely screams a certain time. A more natural shape in French top is pretty natural and timeless. I think ombré glitter nails, ‘naked’ dresses and microbladed brows are soon enough going to scream ****. 😂

Here’s the deal with French manicures: there’s a way to do it in a classy manner and there’s a way to make it... not so classy. For me, I’ve noticed the style of fake nail (if you choose to do so) plays a huge part in this. The big squared off fake nail with the white tips starting halfway down your nail bed accompanied by a too-orange nude hue dates the entire look.
A longer nail in a more modern style helps update this classic look, but I’m personally more of a fan of blush and nude toned nails for a wedding, no matter the shape.

The pink and white ombre has pretty much replaced the traditional french tips.
