Are guest books still a thing?

Grazia, on June 28, 2019 at 7:39 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 21

I'm getting married next year (YAY) and was wondering if guest books at the ceremony venue are still a thing? I can't recall the last time I wrote in a guest book or made my way over to a poster with guests signing it? Should I invest? (Not that it's expensive in comparison to everything else). Thanks!

I am getting married in 2 days, and I am doing the poster thing. I took one of our favorite engagement photos, had it blown up and bought a white mat from Michaels.

I have seen new ways that guest books have been recreated : jenga peices, sign a strip of cloth that will get knitted into a quilt, a guest book tree where ppl sign little things that hang on a tree, and guest book wooden peices that drop into a frame. I plan to have a guest book but I have no intention of paying $30-50 for a guestbook. Im going to go to ross and find a fancy looking notebook/journal and call it a day.

I think is more often in a reception venue instead. I got one as a gift at out engagement party and this is what I used and I loved it. I had a Polaroid to go with it and my bridesmaid were in charge of it. They did a great job! They had guest take 2 to 3 pictures and post it on the book and then have them write something. I love how it came out!

I think it's less of a book now and more posters or art pieces

I had one but I also already had it because my bridesmaids just bought one for me anyway but if they didn't I don't think I would have had one anyway. For my reception though I had a canvas a friend painted and people fingerprinted their thumbprints as leaves on it

Our photo booth rental includes a guestbook. So the booth will print 3 photos, one of which goes in the book that guests get to sign. There will also be an attendant to assist of course. We also get a copy of all photos taken throughout evening.

I would say pick 2 options you like and ask FH which he prefers or if he thinks a regular guestbook is better. The reason why Im not really into the guest book ideas is because I ask myself what am i going to do with this after the wedding. Would I really hang that poster/picture frame on the wall? Not really because I prefer to hang up wedding photos. Would I really put this guestbook momento on the counter or fireplace? Not really. Lol. I do think they are fun ideas tho.

I can’t remember the last time I saw an actual book, but most weddings I’ve attended have still had an alternative. I guess it’s up to you if it’s worth the investment. I didn’t want to spend money on something that we would tuck away in a closet somewhere, so we’re doing a personalized whiskey barrel lid that we’ll hang on the wall after the wedding. Here is our practice lid for reference.

Having something guests sign is still very common but as others have said they are usually more like artwork now or something that you can use in your home. We purchased a guest tree sketch from Etsy, my husband made the custom frame, and we now have it hanging in our entryway. I love it and it is a good reminder of the guests who were at our wedding.

I purchased one because everyone kept telling me that we had to have one. Needless to say the day of the wedding I left it behind in my car. My husband and I could have cared less about it lol. I feel it's not necessary.

We went with the traditional book, we may stick photos in it, I haven't decided yet.

We did a book. It's nice to have, and we can look back at the people who attended - but I'll say that nearly two years on, I look at the pictures regularly, but couldn't tell you the last time I actually pulled the guest book out

We're doing a traditional guest book which we're going to incorporate some of wedding pictures into once we're they're ready.

I like this! I am a traditional gal, so this might be the way to go! I also saw a puzzle the other day that I really liked! But I appreciate what everyone is sharing! Smiley smile

We had one and threw ti away after because we knew we would never look at it again. Waste of money, IMO.
