Are latex real touch flowers nice?

aec2003, on February 14, 2014 at 7:48 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

I've been looking for real touch flowers for our wedding. I found some at Hobby Lobby but they don't have one of the colors that I'm looking for. I found some on amazon, but they say latex real touch flowers instead of just real touch. Are these different? Has anyone ordered them and can give a review on the quality? They are shipped overseas.

Can you order a sample or just one so that you know what the quality of the flower would feel like?

Unfortunately, they are shipped overseas and I would need to wait a month to get them. Our wedding is the end of May so I don't think I could order a small amount to see the quality and then order more as it would be cutting it close to get the bouquets made. I think I might just order them and hope for the best.

I ordered some of the orchid heads off amazon. While they were pretty, they had a plastic-y sheen to them and were stiff, almost like they were completely made of latex instead of a slight coating. While they'd be fine for, say, submerged flower centerpieces, I wouldn't use them for bouquets or anything major.

I think my calla lilies are latex real touch and they look absolutely amazing! On mobile now, but I'll try to post pics when I get off work.

@Caylin: She's asking about the Chinese ones sold on eBay and Amazon. I have real touch roses from HL, they're amazing too. The Chinese ones aren't so great though. At least, some aren't.

Mollischism, do you know who you purchased yours through on Amazon? Here are the links to the ones that I'm thinking about ordering. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DKS8SEO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1BASYL4EZFPYI

Not the same seller. I don't trust any of the overseas real touch flowers anymore though.

Oooooh, my bad. Mine came from afloral. I don't tend to trust most things that come from overseas.

What type of flowers. I went to Michaels yesterday and they had beautiful green Calla Lily flowers that I purchased for my bouquet. Try there before ordering from over seas

I would use caution because of the word Latex with so many people with allergies these days you don't need someone touching those flowers and ending up getting sick at your reception etc.

    Just a thought!!!

    Good Luck and Happy Planning!!!

I've given warnings in the past about the latex in real touch flowers. Definitely make sure nobody in the bridal party/immediate family who will have flowers has a latex allergy. I do know that the overseas ones are COMPLETELY coated in latex, whereas the actual Real/Natural touch ones found at like, Hobby Lobby are only partially coated: the outer part of each petal is fabric, whereas the inner part has a very thin coating.

I found this website that gives you an idea of the differences between the ones sold from overseas and the ones found at places like Hobby Lobby. Hope it helps! http://www.angelsaccents.com/3/miscellaneous14.htm
