Are silk flower petals tacky?

Sam, on May 5, 2019 at 1:22 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4

I'm planning on lining the aisle (outdoor stone pathway) with white petals and having guests throw pink petals when we walk back down. I guess my concern is are people going to think throwing silk petals is cheap/tacky? I didn't want to use real petals to avoid any bleeding on my rather long dress/ cost effective/ easier clean up if we can just rake them up and throw them away. I'm just suddenly very worried people will think that's too cheap.

Rule of thumb when using fake flowers is as long as guest can't feel or touch them it's all good. So I think silk on the aisle is okay.

Typically the colors and textures that I see for artificial petals tend to LOOK artificial. Mostly, I see the artificial petals with both fabric and sheer looking petals, which aren’t natural looking all (especially the sheer ones). But, even if you’re doing DIY for the rest of your flowers, maybe think about ordering a bag of real petals from the florist.

You can also get bags of real rose petals through the Costco website (see floral section).

I think you'll get the visual effect you want using the silk petals to line the aisles, that sounds like a good idea to keep things easy to clean up
