Grrrrrr. This economy sucks... The only reason we were able to afford our wedding in the first place is because we depended on our tax money to do it... So, that left no money for a honeymoon. While at the same time people are sending us money gifts occasionally, we really need a new bed... The FH is sleeping on the floor the past few weeks cause its that bad... So we both agreed a new bed is #1 priority since my fiance has a disabilty and good sleep is crucial to help it... Are there any other ideas as far as honeymoons we could concider... We live in Vegas so it gives us a lot of options but I just have no creativity when it comes to that? Any suggestions ladies?

We decided to post pone the honeymoon several months to save up for it. I think some of the gifts (if monetary) and another tax refund are going to help.

We are making it a priority to take a few days after the wedding to relax with eachother.

For those of you doing a honeymoon registry, what happens if you only get a few people that do that? Sorry....being lazy! I know I can google it but I know I'll get a quicker and better response here! Smiley smile

Initially we were going to plan for a honeymoon as it is really important to me. The reason is this. Again, this is my second go around and I never got a honeymoon. It was one of those things that we said "one day" but circumstances never allowed it. I worried that putting it off this time would end up meaning the same thing. But reality is I think we're going to have to put it off. So at this point I think the plan is going to be what FKH said. It's going to be tight for the wedding as it is and I don't want to add any more financial stress. I'm already very worried about how we will get things paid so... it's very hard. Before I got sick I had a good paying job and a substantial saving account built up, and my health has eaten it all up and I'm no longer working. Very depressing.

We are having a honeymoon, but nothing like I had originally wanted. We are footing the entire bill for our wedding, but I still felt like a honeymoon was necessary since we haven't been on a real vacation trip together in over 3 years (besides a couple of short road trips that only last 2 days). Although I won't be able to go to Punta Cana or Hawaii like I wanted, we are going to spend a week in Hilton Head, SC and it's only costing us about $650. Compared to the $3k+ we would have spent, I think we are getting a great deal. Maybe on our one year anniversary we will be able to do the big trip, if I am not preggos by then! LOL

We went the economically smart way out...we did a DW and our wedding package includes our 3 night honeymoon cabin. We aren't stressing about a honeymoon. We're planning a cruise in July 2012 so it's not a big deal to us. We are taking our kids to the beach the week after we get married so that's like our 2nd honeymoon. Oh and the kids will be with us on our 1st too. I just thought about that last night!! SMH!! LOL!!! But we have other family and friends going so they will have the kids.

Not doing a honey moon at all. We are paying for the wedding ourselves and don't think there will be enough money left over for the honeymoon. Smiley sad

How about going to a B&B in the country for 2-3 nites? That shouldn't cost too much, and you could always take a longer honeymoon later when you have the $.

Our financial situation changed, too, after we had booked all the major vendors (we bought a house but still have to pay for my apartment's mortgage/maintenance on top of that). We haven't yet booked a honeymoon either as I don't know where the $ would come from (other than charging it).

Honeymoon isnt going away to some island or resort, its about being together with your spouse all by yourself even if it means staying at home!

You should look into putting a sort of Money tree out at your wedding. My dental hygenist told me that korean tradition is to have the guests give you money instead of gifts to sort of help pay for the wedding. Maybe you should think about doing that. Who know you may get enough money to buy a new bad and just take a lil few day honeymoon somewhere. Or go and see if you can get into one of those time share presentations most of the time they offer free vacations just for sitting and listening and dealing with them trying to hassel you into buying. Thats how i got the cruise my honey and i are hoping to use as a honeymoon.

We're having a destination wedding... so we will be there over a week for the wedding - which is kind of a honeymoon . . . we are taking an 'official' honeymoon for our one year anniversary and going somewhere that neither of us has ever been. yay!

We had every intention of having a honeymoon right after the wedding but we're putting it off a little til the weather is a bit nicer and we have some more time to save up some money. We might drive to a nice cabin or something though :-)

I don't know what we're going to do about a honeymoon. I would really like to take one since FH and I have only ever been on 1 trip, but we just bought a house. Also don't know about delaying it as we hope to be preggo. In the end we might just do a long weekend at Niagara Falls.

You are not alone. We are not having a honeymoon either. We have other priorities: mortgage (pretty steep), 3 children, two car notes, doctor bills (I have Lupus and chronic ITP) and he just got a supervisory position on his night job. I'm hoping around Valentine's Day we can take a weekend trip somewhere but if not, I'm just happy to be married to a REAL man, this time around.

We're in the same boat! My parents, with some help from his parents are paying for the wedding. I am paying for my dress. We just bought a house so any extra money is going towards that. We have also given ourselves a time line of paying bills off so we can start a family. A honeymoon just isn't in the cards right now. We're staying at a really nice hotel for a few days after the wedding so we'll have a little time together before heading back into the real world. Hopefully in 2012 we can plan something.

We might do a weekend away somewhere that won't involve having to fly there..but as for a honeymoon honeymoon, we both are grad students, and just want to spend money on stuff like a bed, car, etc..I think we'll take a cool trip for an anniversary, I feel like it would be less stressful too or not having to feel guilty about that when we have actual salaries! We can use that like as a congratulations, we made it type thing to! :-)

We are not having a honeymoon either. As a matter of fact we have people sleeping at our house the night of our wedding. We will probably find someone to take our daughter for a weekend and go camping at some point. It's fairly inexpensive to do that and we have all the camping supplies.
