Are titles needed on escort cards?

E, on March 15, 2018 at 1:38 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10

I'm working on escort cards and we are doing individual ones for each person to indicate meal selection. FYI - we won't have place cards at their tables, they will simply take the escort cards and put them at their seat so the servers know what meal they have.

Anyway, on the escort card, I'm torn on what to put. I feel like the Mr./Mrs./Ms. makes it look crowded. Is it ok to just list the name with no title? So instead of "Mrs. Julie Andrews", it would just be "Julie Andrews". Don't ask me why Mary Poppins came into my head!

I didn't include titles on mine. In fact, I just used first names for space reasons, but I only had 40 guests so it worked out. I had 4 people with the same name so I just added the first letter of their last name.

We just did names with no titles! Our escort cards were limited in space (marble coasters). I think the title may be too much.

I don't think they are really needed. It's just a matter of preference.

Nah, I would say you don't need them, just first and last name. Titles are more important for invitations.

I think it's safer to not use titles, especially for women because you never know if they go by Miss, Ms, or Mrs. You could inadvertently offend someone by calling them by the wrong one.

I don’t plan on it. The whole Miss/Ms/Mrs thing kind of bugs me, so I avoid it at all costs. I might use it for older guests but that’s it.

We are not doing titles. We're actually not even doing formal names on them (we are on the invites). Whatever the person goes by - Chris instead of Christopher for example - is what we are putting on them.
