Are Ushers Necessary??

I don’t think so

Fiance's siblings are in our bridal party, so my siblings will be honored by being ushers.

Most groomsmen do double duty as ushers. But it can also delegated to older teens. While they aren't required by any means, they are nice to have to help guests find where to sit. They can also distribute programs.


I would never expect an usher to be in charge of duties that a coordinator is responsible for.

This is exactly my experience. And to be honest, I have seen it several times where brothers or other male relations were asked to be ushers and rent tuxes, and they were kind of annoyed at the extra expense for a completely unnecessary role that is a dubious honor.

We didn't have them. They're definitely more of an honorary role than a necessity.
