Are you a person?

Samantha, on October 14, 2020 at 8:56 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12
Sorry, bit of a rant. So this just happened and it has happened before, let me explain. Today my FH and I went to buy some collector items, there is a 1 item per person rule, (written clearly on their website) fine with me. We enter together they take his information then I speak up and say I want to buy 1 too. The salesman says "no, 1 per person." I tell him that I am a person. A bit of a heated discussion ensues and eventually he says ok to the sale. Then I give him my address, he says no again because we live at the same address,(mind you so do 40 other people). I ask them if they would sell it to me if we hadn't walked in together, they say yes. There are literally 4 sales people including the manager opining at this point. I eventually and with my own hard earned money am able to buy the item for myself. Whilst being slightly insulted by one of the salespersons. Why don't people see couples has individuals? We have our own opinions and buy our own products. Was I wrong to insist that I am indeed a seperate person from my FH?

Omg, There was a small bakery around the corner from my house in St. Louis that had the most amazing caramel croissants you could ever imagine! Well, word got out about how great they were, and eventually there were lines around the block to get them every Saturday morning (The only day they made them). So they started implementing a one croissant per person rule. Just like the store you mentioned, they would regard couples as “a person”. This irritated me to no end! Eventually, myself, my fiancé, and a couple friend of ours would all go in every Saturday and act like we didn’t know each other in order for each of us to get our own croissants

I'm not alone then 😅. It's crazy, are you expected to eat half a croissant then? I get the 1 per person rule. No problem, but you are in fact a person.

Exactly!! The sign doesn’t say “1 per household”!

Wow, that’s not good sales practice. Maybe they were confusing per person with per transaction? But the address rule is ridiculous.

Right?! I did specify that it was my money with my card. It wasn't cheap either. I would understand if it was per transaction, otherwise, you could just grab anyone off the street.

Could you imagine a group of 6 splitting 1 croissant cause it's 1 per household? 😂😂😂

OMG if that were the case, I guarantee we would have been sneaking out of the house early to get there before anyone else in the house 😂😂😂

Interesting! I’ve never experienced that when walking in as a couple yet purchasing separately. What an odd practice.

It is odd, plus they just assumed we were a couple. We weren't holding hands or touching in anyway. Heck we were almost ignoring each other as we were interested in different parts of the store.

Wow!!! no, you are clearly your OWN PERSON, ONE , unless you have a split personality.... one per person, is per person, not COUPLE, not HOUSEHOLD, but one PERSON..... clearly they need to update their signage to be household if that's what they intended to mean... just cuz you get married , that doesn't make 2 people melded into 1 person.... a child makes 3 not 1 large person
