Are you becoming more concerned with Covid again?

Not sure how to title this, but it seemed like Covid concerns were pretty low pre-Delta, spiked during Delta (meaning lots of RSVP declines and testing requirements pre-wedding), and then settled again after Delta and things have been pretty calm for a few months. But now it looks like cases are rising again and people are voicing concerns about gatherings again. I’ve been very cautious and almost didn’t go my sisters wedding due to Covid concerns, but no one seemed worried because cases were very low in my county.
My wedding is in January, 20 people total, with 3 flying in from California. 2 of which will fly in the day before the wedding. If they catch Covid on the plane, would they be contagious at the wedding? What are your guys’ thoughts on putting a rapid self-test in everyone’s welcome bag or requiring a rapid test the day before the wedding? The wedding is in the mountains and there’s no where within 30 mins to get a test.

Our local government requires all participants at indoor events to be fully vaccinated, recovered or tested negatively within the last 24 hours, and I'm really glad, because this way I can just point to the regulations without having to endure any pointless discussions about why we're enforcing it (we would have anyway, but this way it's easier to explain). But I am worried that more guests may decline last minute citing COVID concerns (we're getting married in February) and that we'll have to carry the costs because our venue wants the final guest count 10 days before the date.
I think it's a good idea to ask everyone to self-test the day of your wedding- but of course you'll have no way of checking the results, you know best if you can trust people to actually do it. Also, you must mentally prepare for the situation where someone tests positively, and know what you're going to do in such a case.

Thank you! I wish my local government had rules like that in place. There are really no rules where I am, but everyone is fully vaccinated except for 2 people who I'm unsure about. I think I'm going to ask everyone to get a test within 3 days of the wedding, but I'll buy some over-the-counter tests from CVS and bring them for anyone who forgot or couldn't get a test beforehand. They're only 80ish percent accurate but I think it's better than nothing.

I think it's a good idea to put them inside the welcome bags, if you're doing any - people can take the test in private and not worry about eventually spreading the virus. I always take a test before visiting my grandparents, since they haven't had their third shot yet. Even though the tests aren't 100% accurate, they can be relied on to show if someone is highly contagious.

I'm not worried about it. Our venue is outdoors and 95% of our guests are vaccinated. If they choose to wear a mask they can.

I do not believe California will shut down again as we are already broke.

As long as they’re vaccinated I wouldn’t worry. I definitely would reevaluate if they are not vaxxed.
