Are you ditching parent dances?

Are you doing the traditional father-daughter and mother-son dances at your wedding reception? Or are you trimming down the total number of reception traditions and cutting the parent dances? Are you saying "I do" to this tradition or ditching it? Photo by Black & Hue Photography in...

Thank you, next (tradition): Are you ditching the bouquet toss?

Back to the beginning: Which wedding traditions are you ditching?

My cousin had our grandpa dance with her to begin with, and then the man that took on the fatherly duties towards her cut in about half way and finished it out. It was pretty cute.

We are keeping this tradition partly. I am dancing with my dad, but he is not going to do a dance with his mom.

We will be doing both mother son and father daughter at the same time and inviting all parent/child guest duos to join us half way through, we did not want to do one at all so that was the best way to satisfy the parents!

We are keeping this, though I’m hoping that I can convince everyone to do them at the same time. However, both my dad and fiancé are very traditional, so I’m not sure it will fly. I just don’t want the guests to have to sit through half an hour of dances. Or maybe they can be done while guests are eating or something.

We're doing only the father daughter dance. This is my FH's second marraige so he's already done a mother son dance a few years ago in his first wedding, but it's my first so I'm doing the tradition. Besides we all thought it was cool to go straight to our first dance after the father daughter dance.

We are doing it. It is my second wedding, but my first was so small. We got married at the officiants house then went to dinner with our parents so no dancing. I'm so incredibly close to my father, I'm excited to finally do this dance. I've chosen Paul Simons "Father and Daughter" for us to dance to.

FH isn't thrilled to dance with his mom, but he knows how much she will love it. We haven't picked a song for that dance yet.

We decided to come up with an alternative to the father-daughter dance. So instead, dad will be escorting me to the dance floor to "give me away" for my first dance.

We will do groom and mother of groom, and daddy daughter dance. My mom wants a dance for me and her. I'm not sure about it yet.
