Are you ditching parent dances?

Are you doing the traditional father-daughter and mother-son dances at your wedding reception? Or are you trimming down the total number of reception traditions and cutting the parent dances? Are you saying "I do" to this tradition or ditching it? Photo by Black & Hue Photography in...

Thank you, next (tradition): Are you ditching the bouquet toss?

Back to the beginning: Which wedding traditions are you ditching?

Since my dad passed away in October 2017 I’ll be doing my daddy daughter dance with my mom, my brother, and my godfather (he’s walking me down the isle) and my SO will be doing the mother son dance with my “bonus” mom because his mom passed away 5 years ago

No mother/son dance. FH has zero interest in dancing and is already having to dance two dances with me so I didn't want to push it too much. I am dancing with my Mom since my Dad passed away years ago.

I've been to weddings that didn't have mother/son dances and instead at the beginning of the reception after the Entrances/Introductions the groom gave a small toast to his mom and presented her with a bouquet of flowers. That could be done for both parents if needed. I thought it was really nice when I saw it and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

I'm undecided, never thought about dancing with my mom. My FH parents are deceased.

I’m dancing with my son, since my father is in heaven. My fiancé is dancing with his mom. And I also wanted a family dance since we’re blending my fiancé, my son and myself.

You could always start the dance with your dad and then let your step dad and brother cut in for a little bit at the end. I saw that once when a bride's father had passed and each of her brothers took turns dancing with her.
