Are you ditching parent dances?

Are you doing the traditional father-daughter and mother-son dances at your wedding reception? Or are you trimming down the total number of reception traditions and cutting the parent dances? Are you saying "I do" to this tradition or ditching it? Photo by Black & Hue Photography in...

Thank you, next (tradition): Are you ditching the bouquet toss?

Back to the beginning: Which wedding traditions are you ditching?

You can also have your dad start the dance and midway have your stepdad cut in and then your brother the last minute.

I am dancing with my grandpa and I will also be dancing with a cousin who helped my mom raise me. If he dances with his mom it will be a joint dance with him dancing with his mom and me dancing with mine.

We aren't doing any dances. Instead we will do a "parent dedication" video/slideshow to thank our parents for everything they have done for us. Smiley smile

Depending on the song, you could have your step dad and brother cut in at certain points on the song, then you could share it with all 3 of them.

I really want to ditch them all. At my first wedding they all felt so forced and awkward so if we do anything, we will dance with other people out there too.

In the UK, it's the norm to have a 'first dance' (a dance between groom and bride) and not having a parent/child dance but I'm planning to do a first dance. quite nervous as I'm.a terrible dancer 😂

We aren't doing any traditional dances. Not even a first dance together. My FH is uncomfortable dancing in front of everyone. Which is odd since he's a great dancer, he use to be a go-go dancer. But he doesn't really know how to slow dance. So we decided to do away with all of those "special" dances.

We will be doing father/daughter, and he will most likely do dance with his mom (if they want to)

Ditching it! We might not even have a reception but if we do end up having anything after, we were thinking a private luau event and we doubt we will have any time of our own to do something like that
