The cake-cutting is a classic wedding tradition and standard photo opportunity! The symbolism is pretty sweet - it’s the first activity you do together as a couple, and feeding each other a small bite symbolizes your commitment to providing and caring for one another. But cutting the cake can become pretty complicated (which tier?!), and not everyone wants pictures of themselves chowing down on dessert!

Are you ditching tradition and cutting out the cake ceremony at your wedding? Or keeping this tradition in? Smiley cake

Thank you, next (tradition): Are you doing or ditching the "carry over the threshold" tradition?

Back to the beginning: Which wedding traditions are you ditching?

We are doing the cutting but I'm hoping to use forks! I'm spending a lot of money on my bridal pampering and dont want to ruin my pretty makeup lol

Sort of but I change my mind often so who knows what my cake will look like in the end... Too much time gives me too much time to contemplate....

We're keeping it. Our wedding cake started the entire planning process. Once we figured out what our cake would look like, we had our wedding theme and wedding colors and everything took off from there. So we want to show off our cake.

We are unsure about this, we may do it just for the picture and not make a huge deal out of it and stop the party, its so hard to get everyone on the dance floor again afterward!

If we have a reception later on down the line or can have it at a private luau event that we are planning for, then we'll have it there and cut it. If not, then we'll keep it for whenever we have the reception

We decided to do a different cake, the last wedding I went to NO ONE ate any of the cake, so we decided to have the bakery make a fake Styrofoam cake and put cake pops in it, so we dont need to cut a bunch of pieces and everyone can just take one as they please, we did have them make a super small tiny cake to put at the top of it so we could still cut it together but it wont be served or anything

There isn't going to be a cake to cut. I'm not big on sweets but there will be a candy apple bar and other Halloween treats for the guests to indulge on.

No cake at our reception but I say keep the tradition if you do decide to do cake. But I agree no cake in the face.

We're planning to pass on the cake cutting to allow us to have more time with our guests and enjoy the reception. Plus, some people eat fast and will want sweets before others.
