Are you ditching the traditional wedding party?

Rebecca, on January 15, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted in Planning 1 100

Are you saying goodbye to the old traditional wedding party? Or are you mixing it up with uneven sides, two MOHs (or none), or skipping the flower girl and ring bearer? Will you have a man of honor instead of a maid of honor? A best woman instead of a best man?

Are you sticking with or ditching the traditional wedding party make-up?

We had uneven sides (more groomsmen than bridesmaids), no flower girl or ring bearer, and I had both a matron of honor and a maid of honor!

And my husband's best man was his dad! Apparently that is a more popular tradition in the south, but it was the first time I'd seen it!

I just wanted our kids (we are a blended family) as our wedding party, but FH wanted groomsmen. Therefore, we are having both. We each have 4 bridesmaids and groomsmen, two of our kids and niece/nephew are jr.bridesmaids and groomsmen, and 2 of our kids are flower girls. No ring bearer!

Ditched the wedding party. Just didnt want to deal with it. My 9yr old daughter will walk down the asile and stand with me long enough for me to pass my bouquet to and then she will have a seat. She will come back up at the end and place our broom for jumping the broom.

We have no women in the wedding party at all. My brother is my man of honor and my best friend is my bridesman. We don't have a flower girl but our nephew might be our ring bearer if his family is able to come to the wedding. Right now we have even sides but one of FH's groomsmen might not be able to make the wedding (ring bearers father) for a very good reason.

I guess ours is non traditional. We have uneven bridesmaids and groomsmen (he has more) no ring bearer or flower girl and our children will be Jr. bridesmaids and Jr. groomsmen. For those of you who have an uneven number what are you doing?

I had 9 on my side, he had 8 on his side, a junior bridesmaid, a junior groomsmen, three flower girls, two ring bearers, and a partridge in a pear tree. We wanted everyone to feel included!

We went very traditional with the wedding party. An even 5 on each side as well as a ring bearer and two flower girls!

We're having an uneven wedding party. We also don't know any young children so we skipped the flower girl and ring bearer.

We are going semi-untraditional. We have even sides, but I have a matron of honor and a maid of honor and one bridesmaid. FH has a best woman, and two groomsmen. One flower girl, one ring bearer.

We're having a wedding party, a little untraditional with 2 best men, 1 matron and 1 maid of honor, and then 3 bridesmaids.

My brother doesn't know this yet... but I'm going to ask him to be the man of honor. Smiley smile Other than that we're keeping it fairly traditional.

I don't know if it's breaking tradition to have a groomsman or bridesmaid who is married (I see that a lot so it doesn't seem like "breaking" a tradition per se) but we're doing that too!
