Are you doing or ditching the “carry over the threshold” tradition?

Jayla, on January 15, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 101

Have you and your significant other decided to follow the “carry over the threshold” tradition? This old wedding night tradition was another way to ward off evil spirits, apparently brides were extra vulnerable through the soles of their feet!

Are you saying “I do” to this tradition or ditching it?

We haven't talked about it, and we are staying in a hotel the night of the wedding. When we get home FH may carry me over but that'll be up to him! I don't mind it either way.

This isn't something we discussed, but I am too self conscious about my weight to let this happen. Plus my dress is really big and we will probably be pretty "buzzed" by the end of the night, so I can imagine this would be extremely difficult lol. Cuddos to anyone coordinated enough to do it though!Smiley xd

Nope! I hate that. And My dress was too bad big and we went home. We had two dogs that wanted to see me.

We did it but it wasn’t anything romantic. It was 2am and we were both tipsy. A friend of mine got some hilarious pictures.

We haven't thought about this at all. FH picks me up and carries me around all of the time so I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to do this spur of the moment but it won't be a planned thing.

I think this tradition is so sweet. We haven't really talked about it much but I know he'll probably carry me over. Smiley laugh

Haven't really thought about that. I think I would attempt it with the FH, seems like fun at least.

I didn't even realize this was a tradition for that reason lol! But we'll have to pass as I'm way too heavy for him to lift lol

Exactly. It was late and we’d been partying for hours. Lol! I’m not small so my husband was a trooper trying to lift me up. Lol!

I've teased him about it, telling him i'm expecting it...won't happen for us. He has a bad knee from a gunshot wound from over 30 years ago, and he also has a bad back from his being a plumber and crawling under homes and in crawl spaces....I think i'm ok with forgoing that tradition! I will continue to tease him though!
