Are you doing your own wedding makeup?

I'm considering doing my own since I'm wanting something fairly basic. How many of you are doing your own makeup and how many of you are hiring a professional?? Let me know why! I'm still on the fence and am trying to weigh out the options. Thank you!

I’m doing my own. I am comfortable using the products I already own and I know how they look on camera. The only thing I gotta work on and practice with is eyeliner, but I’ve got plenary of time to work on that.

I also go fairly basic and am planning on doing my own! One of my biggest fears is that someone else would do my make-up, and I wouldn't look like myself at all. This being said, I know many brides who used a make-up artist and were very happy and pleased with their decision. The high cost just didn't seem worth it to me. Happy planning Smiley smile

I hired a professional HMUA... I love how I do my own makeup but I wouldn’t trust myself on the wedding day. I feel that since a MUA does that constantly, they’re better at wedding makeup than me, since I’ve never done it. It’s also an excuse to get pampered 😂

That being said, if you trust yourself doing it, you’ve done trials on yourself and you feel confident, then go for it!

I am doing my own makeup for my wedding due to me liking my makeup a certain way. Luckily I have built my skills over the years in doing my makeup and continue to improve. Hair is a different story I know how to straighten and curl my hair, but I want my hair to look a certain way too so I opted to hire a professional on that aspect.

I’m doing my own. I’m actually really good at makeup and really picky when it comes to doing my makeup a certain way. I am getting someone to do my hair though because I can’t do anything with hair.

Any other time, I'd do my own make up. I did my own when I was participating in weddings, when I went to prom, etc. However, this is my wedding. I'm only planning on getting married once. So for this one time, I'm planning to hire an artist. It's my one time.

I can absolutely do my own makeup, however it is proven that bridal makeup professionals can do your makeup so they look good in both person and pictures. This was solidified at a company Christmas party I went to where I thought I was way over done in person but in pics I look washed out and bad.

    Doing it myself.
I don’t like heavy makeup and tend to not wear a lot. I also know exactly what I want and trust myself to do it. For me hiring a makeup artist would be a waste and I probably wouldn’t like it.

I cant decide! On one hand I love make up and know I can do a great job, on the other hand its nice to be pampered.

I worry that I wont like the way they do something like my brows! I like my brows to be light fluffy not stenciled and dark! Because we are eloping I cant have a trial run either.

I’m doing my own makeup. The only times I ever wear makeup is for special events (company holiday parties, weddings, etc) and even then, it’s usually just mascara and lipstick (sometimes eye liner or eye shadow if I’m feeling crazy lol).
Since I never wear makeup, I don’t want to look like a different person day-of by having someone add face makeup that I would normally never wear.
FH did not want me to wear makeup at all since I normally don’t, but he agreed light makeup is fine if it makes me feel more confident. I’ve bee practicing my eyeshadow/liner to get a natural look and it’s not too difficult.

Allie, I think this is my approach too! If I even put on eye shadow I tell FH "look i did my makeup" lol so I have that fear of not wanting to look/feel like a different person on my wedding day.

I’m doing my own, if I wear any. I hardly ever wear makeup and I still wanna feel like myself. I also can’t afford to hire a professional. Why should I pay $100 for someone to put a light amount of makeup on me?

I'm doing my own makeup, I'm pretty particular with how my makeup looks and I don't want to stress about having someone else do it on my big day and then it not turn out the way i envisioned, so i'm just going to do it myself.

I love makeup. I worked at sephora for about a year a few years ago because I almost pursued getting my cosmetology license before I fell in love with teaching. I chose a professional makeup artist because even though I have been wearing makeup for so many years and know what I like on myself, I still don't think I can do what a professional can. My MUA is so talented and the LAST thing I want to worry about that day is whether or not my eyebrows are uneven lol. I want to be as stress-free as physically possible. Plus this is the one day we have to be pampered. I want to feel like a princess. Smiley smile lol just once

I'm really considering doing my own I usually don't do much but I've seen a lot of youtube and have learned a lot that if I try it, it actually looks good. However, I still plan to practice since I'm not much of a foundation girl, I've applied lashes and I only do make up on special occasions. I feel pretty confident but I'm not sure how pictures would look so I'd have to test it. Since I'm in CA the cheapest I got was 185 for hair and make up and another was 350 just make up it was just too much for me.
